Here are some of his favorites which caught my eye

Check out Ray Monk's biography of Wittgenstein, he discusses the book and its influence on Witty at length

Another interesting favorite of his was Tolstoy's The Gospel in Brief.
Very interesting to see through this list how religious Wittgenstein was, in his own weird way.

He once said to a friend "I am not a religious man: but I cannot help seeing every problem from a religious point of view." We can conclude that at least he had a soul and wasn't a soulless bugman like Russell.

Yeah and not only did he have a soul, but he had more soul than most, the poor guy

Yeah, He famously put the '~' character before it to indicate it is approximately true.

They were archenemies ever since that fated history class.

That is Hitler but that's not Wittgenstein. He was in another class.

That would make Ray Monk wrong if I recall the biography right.

>The Varieties of Religious Experience by W. James.
ah. now i understand why my Wittgenstein obsessed friend recommended such a book.
God thing I ignored his recommendation.

Hitler and Wittgenstein attended the same school for one academic year, but though they were the same age, Hitler was one year behind his peers, and Wittgenstein one year ahead of his peers, and so they were never in the same class.

That photo is from 1901, and Wittgenstein didn't attend the school until 1903, so it is not Wittgenstein in that picture.

There is no evidence they interacted.

It's an interesting book.
