The language is audibly repulsive, it sounds like dogs barking with potatoes in their mouths. Also the young Chinese elite youths worship the West. They'd probably value Shakespeare and Aristotle over their dull conformist classical culture and philosophy.

Literally everyone uses American that way. You're just trying to police language to fit some narrative to cope with the lesser significance of your region.

TRUTH IS NOT CONTINGENT TO USAGE; THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE WORLD USES AN INCORRECT TERM DOES NOT MAKE THAT TERM CORRECT, NOR APT TO THE REFERENT.

There's no such thing as an ideal language. American is the ordinary usage, in communication it makes sense to use terms that can be understood, and in this case saying "he didn't start with the United Statesians" would cause confusion and other unwanted reactions to the message.

Chinese are obsessed with American literature though. I would be embarrassed to encounter an ascendant country's citizen who knows my native literature better than me.

The thing with americ*n authors is they try so desperately to create classics. Europeans created them effortlessly and they naturally came out with time, from genuinely genius authors. Americans try to recreate this. Read a Cormac McCarthy book for example. Blood meridian is Mac wanking himself off to try prove to everyone how big his lexicon is. No one cares about your 50th description of the same desert scene you Porco Dio.

Moby Dick is one of the few exceptions, but even Melville was massively influenced by John Milton, and it wouldn't exist without paradise lost. Thank you for your offer my sweet prince, but I'll stick with Europeans.
