Because equality is unattainable and aiming for it inevitably leads to great injustice and freedom requires nothing.
It takes work to rob people of freedom, it takes work to not only attain but also to keep equality and it's unstable if achieved.

This sounds like bullshit pithiness designed to ensnare idiots who are barely above average in terms of their intelligence. But they have a nice house and a nice family so they delude themselves into believing their paleo conservatism is somehow radical because, golly gee, they must actually be much smarter (better) than they think since they have all this nice stuff. And smart people are always radical, right?

I am socially conservative and fiscally liberal; still, worshipping Buckley in this day and age is a little like worshipping your idiot father simply because he happened to find himself in a position teaching economics at Colombia. You say to yourself: the system sucks! Yet, at the same time, wish to retain the old venerations just in case the establishment does finally get around to accepting you like they accepted your father. It's pathetic.

Move beyond Buckley; his conservatism is a polite dead end masquerading as a daring new frontier. Stop hoping your enemies will like you and have you on their television programs.

"Freedom" is just an ideological term. What he really likes in inequality and some people doing what they're told and others telling them what to do.

Capitalism, by nature, basically destroys, corrodes and eats every structure, including the conservative ones. There isn't anything more disgusting than a nation where faggots and trannies co-exist with cuckservatives. It can only be possibly through capitalism, which is everyone's whore. Capitalism is always expanding its customer base and that means catering to everyone. A capitalist and "conservative" nation is not possible because sooner or later they will run out of things to conserve due to capitalism's corroding influence and its enhancing of every customer's importance, whatever their non-conservative qualities (faggotry, etc.). Conservatism can only truly exist in an authoritarian system.

Yes. This is exactly it. "Radical" conservatism too often devolves into a very base and simple desire for more explicit forms of boot licking. It could be so much more. Futurism had something, before it was twisted into Fascism.

Surely that depends how conservative you want to be.
Very few people aim for hardline conservatism; generally conservatives just want to take it slower than the liberals strive for.

Almost all -isms and ideologies are impossible or at the very least unfeasible when taken to their logical extremes. I am not a centrist by the way.

I firmly believe that American "conservatives" are just disillusioned contrarians who can't accept they have been uttery raped. I can't think of a single thing they have to conserve. Faggots won, trannies won, niggers won, fedoras won. There's nothing left, they can't even conserve their own dignity now. But hey, at least they still have muh freedom, right?

Freedom to be unequal is good, yes, but not in such extremes as we see today. Inequality should be that of merit. The greatest artists get the greatest recognitions. The greatest academics, the directorships of their departments. The greatest sportsmen, the greatest awards. And so on. The only system, however, which can achieve this, which has come closest to achieving this, is the exact system argued against with this quote. That is to say, Socialism.

Yes. Freedom (ie capitalism) is good because it creates inequality (ie justice). The virtuous and strong thrive, and then vicious and weak are left behind. The insanity of today is a rebellion against this.

It’s better to be born rich than smart.

That’s the sobering takeaway of a new national study released by Georgetown University on Wednesday that suggests a child's success in life is shaped less by their innate talents and more by their social standing and life circumstances from birth to early adulthood.

Specifically, researchers found that seven out of 10 wealthy kindergarten students with low test scores were affluent by age 25, compared to only three out of 10 high-scoring kindergarten students from poor families who were affluent by early adulthood.

"If you’re born well off and you don’t show talent, you have a better chance of ending up in a good job than if you’re a low-income, talented student," said Tony Carnavale, director of Georgetown's Center on Education and the Workforce, which produced the study.

You say that, but there are bound to be a series of roadblocks and variables that remain unaccounted for. There might be so many that we won't be able to solve the majority of them for at least another millennium. Genetics at this juncture reminds me of the space race, only it's bound to have more dire consequences. No doubt China will create something awful and will continue to make a number of horrid miscalculations until they either destroy themselves as a nation or give up. The bulk of genetic research will likely come from China, but quality genetic research will still come from Europe predominantly. And that's going to be a much slower process.

Buckley also said that voting is mostly a mechanism for throwing out rascals, rather than making policy, a point that's difficult to refute. And he got a little quiet when Robert Hughes had to remind him of how wealth and power go hand-in-hand, and can make inequality onerous and corrupting in its degree. So by the standards of today's run of Right-leaning kooks and loudmouth ideologues he was pretty sane.

Soviets repressed artists and scientists. They propped up hacks like Lysenko while censoring and starving out geniuses like Vavilov. They got their rocket technology from nazi expats and their nuclear technology from brittish spies. China nowadays is the world centre for copyright infrigement because they just freeride other countries' R&D investments.

Central planning always leads to censorship, to one group closing the bounds of what is considered meritous.
