That's a dumb theory but I do think that some children are developmentally anomalous and can be miscategorized by the educational system.

That's sort of what like what happened to me. I came from a poor broken home, my parents had kids right out of highschool and didn't know what they were doing, lots of bad shit happening in my upbringing. The education system just thought I was stupid because I didn't feel like anything was worth it as a kid because of how fucked up my life was .So I got put into remedial classes and sort of developed this identity that I was dumb which the school system produced in me.

It was only until later in highschool that I realized I was smart and began self-educating intensely, but by that time my grades were too mediocre and my fate in the eyes of the system was set in stone. I then had to sacrifice some of my better years to correct for the mistakes of the deeply dysfunctional classist educational system. Now I'm in a fairly good place and write books for fun so I feel like I triumphed over all of it.

I was in a similar situation. I failed or barely passed nearly every class from the 4th to the 12th grade. Graduated with a 1.7 gpa, bottom ten kids in the whole school. I despised school with every fiber of my being. Had a fine upbringing, good home life, wasn't poor, caring parents. I just found everything to be a waste of time. Teachers and my peers felt like idiots. 3 years after hs graduation I realized I needed a degree for the goal I wanted to pursue so I went to community college and had the highest GPA in the school. Transferred to an ivy league and graduated a year early sum com laude. I never once studied. I just actually did the work. I needed one read through the textbook or one listen of the lecture and everything was extremely easy. Still found the majority of my peers to be idiots.
Now I only graduated university, I'm not touting this as some great accomplishment. Only that the experience of struggling in normal schooling or literally being "too smart to be successful" can exist. People in the last few years have such a reactionary and bitter take when encountering this as if to dispell some memes that were cringe 10 years ago.
I was also diagnosed with adhd at around 14 years old

Well, I was a gifted kid and everyone expected a lot of me. I never had to study or make any effort to excel, so I arrived at college without knowing how to study and, even worse, without any interest in doing anything with my life.

In the first semester of the first year I started skipping classes, reading whatever I wanted in the library. I passed half the exams, and I didn't bother with the rest because I knew I was going to fail. I dropped out after that semester, and now, twelve years later, I'm a chronically depressed NEET. I didn't study anything else and I haven't worked a single day in my life, and I don’t really care. I find everything so tiresome, I cut ties with all the friends and girlfriends I had besides one ex that insists in visiting me often, wants to come back together and etc. She's great and lovely, but I wish she stopped trying. She can do much better.

Anyway, they tested my IQ when I was a child and it was 144. I don’t know how useful those test are, but I think they're too focused in some parts of what can be considered intelligence and severy neglect others like emotional intelligence. I knew kids who were dumb as bricks and some of them lead way better (and successful) lives than mine, which I admit isn't hard. I don’t envy them, I rather die than lead one of these lives (married with children, working a lot...) but I guess at the end of the day they achieve to be somewhat ok with that, and that, that is something I would love to feel.

I have seen it with my own eyes. My best friend in HS was a math continental champion and national chess champion at age 13. He left school the next year. He was kinda chad in his own autistic way, hit a few teachers and threatened to kill some female classmates.
I was also good at math, ranked nationally and won a few prizes but he was at a completely different level, literally genius tier.
I have enough anecdotes of him to write a book, but to put it simple: he never had a job, never finished school, and spends all his days inside his room with his PC and a music studio he built himself alone. Tragic.
