I want to write a story that has a series of twists that are based on established information but are near- impossible to figure out for the audience. Is there an established way to do this? Where do I even start?

study real world mysteries that were hard to solve

Study reality, truth is always more amazing than fiction, I recommend you first go through history and study the cultures that left more records, mostly in the old world. Mythology and things of the last 2 centuries also work.

classic example of fpbp

here's the dirty little secret no one around here will actually tell you: you literally just start writing and stop talking about writing. once you've written enough shit, you might stop writing shit. but probably not

It’s your book mate. Why do you want us to do it for you?

I would say analyze other twists. Reduce them to the abstract too. Once you know the rules, you can push them

Look up rational fiction. Rationalfags are autistic about making things "realistic" and have like a gazillion million different guides on how to make a mystery feasibly solvable but not completely obvious.
Me, I understand that fiction is just that, so there's no need to treat it like anything else.

wasn't The Man Who Was Thursday, by G.K. Chesterton full of euphemisms? Might be one starting point. Also the analysis of film, particularly some of the more subversive propaganda elements done by Devon Stack (Blackpilled) and even the Matrix trilogy analysis floating around on /pol/ might give you some ideas for what you want to do.

One thing I have learnt - the best way to become a better writer is to read very widely.
