Yes he was, and once you come to this realization you won’t ever be able to go back. He singlehandedly turned me away from Traditionalism, made me despise Christianity despite crying in the name of Christ in my prayers, made me revile moralizers and, most beautifully, made me love and dream about the Greeks

Nietzschean dogmatics annoy me furiously.

They don't know how to think for themselves, they just take from him shit-tier "omg natural values of life are power, the Greeks knew this! Universal values are bullshit". They don't even want to hold Nietzsche as philosophy, they just want to follow him like a dog.

I'll admit that for a long time I treated Nietzsche like a theologian would, studying his works as if they held the answer to everything and the secret to modernity. However, the latter did turn out true. Nietzsche is without a doubt the most important philosopher in modernity, so it's no wonder why so many who engage with philosophy gravitate towards him.

>> No.17935038

>>17933567
He resented aristocratic sincere philosophers like Mainländer and stole their ideas. He contradicted himself many times. But using cheap insults against dead philosophers who lived and died by their philosophies is a terribly scummy thing to do.

Imagine thinking theologians have any answer, except for the standard one that their religion is completely flawless despite evidence to the contrary

I do not think Nietzsche can't be followed dogmatically, at least if you have read him.
I believe many gravitate towards Nietzsche because he thoroughly and eloquently articulates a mindset, which a comparatively small section of the population arrives at after spending a couple of decades in modern Western society.

Meant to reply to >>17934772 originally.
I do not think there is one and it seems to become pretty clear in Zarathustra that Nietzsche never intended there to be one. Personally, I think the core of his critique - the silliness of morals and religious type dogmatism, rejection of academic ivory towers, and his postulation to create your own moral system - has a broad appeal that still carries the same power today as it did in the 19th century. From that base, everyone carves their own niche reading him. But who knows if even that interpretation is commonplace.

My little sister went to a Catholic school run by nuns and was quite literally told by a nun doing sex ed (kek!) that masturbation caused blindness.
My mom was fucking furious.
