I'm reading this at the moment. This guy was the top ranking high priest in an African tribe from age 11 and served his tribe's bloodthirsty god (which was an evil satanic sprit) which had chosen him to be the high priest of his tribe in Liberia. When war broke out in Liberia most of the tribes in the country waged war mostly with his tribe, and he was THE high priest with many initiates and he goes on to explain how the African witchcraft works and how widespread it is in Africa, which is extremely. All men were expected to be warriors, especially the high priest who was considered the most bloodthirsty warrior in the tribe; the tribe's god even personally chose Blahyi before he was even born to be the tribe's high priest and blessed him to be the greatest warrior ever. Then when war broke out he led his tribe in battle against the government and rebel forces and did many horrific and disgusting things. One day he was about to charge into battle when Jesus Christ personally appeared to Blahyi and told him he was a slave and if he did not repent he would die. It was then he became a believer in Jesus Christ and was saved from his sins; then he became a preacher. Pretty powerful stuff. It's pretty good; it's well-told, moves at an energetic pace, is very engaging and surprisingly it doesn't have that much scripture in it, definitely not enough to break the pace of the narrative. However there are some grammatical and spelling errors, and the witchcraft and how it works isn't very well explained, and I wish it was longer (it's very short and I'm already 60% of the way thru it after only a few hours of reading).

of course an argument like that would make sense to somebody who never actually considers what life is like for the thing he puts his dick in. i can tell you from experience that living an inauthentic life is an unpleasant experience, to the point where i would consider it not worth the effort
this relates to my interest in authenticity: i'm a former tranny, and i have found happiness and a way to be authentic, and to be happy without the misery of inauthentic living. i did this by rejecting all conscious representation of sexual identities, and so ended up as something that definitely isn't a woman, or a man, or anything. i am happy now, but a lot of other people who are like me in many ways are still miserable. they almost always live in a palace of delusions they constructed to bridge the gap between them and actual women, a series of copes and lies they tell themselves to assure them that their completely conscious gender identity is valid and the same as the thing they want to be, which unlike them has never really had to think about it all that hard. i feel immense empathy for these people who are so much like me, and so i feel compelled to argue against anybody who enables their delusions by reassuring them that they are women. i want them to find the exit, so that they too can be happy, but people like you who help them reinforce the walls are only hurting them

You've described my best friend perfectly. He had a series of really horrible experiences when we were kids that really messed him up and he's been running from them ever since. I think we're probably bonded by trauma at this point because of all the suicide attempts I had to talk him down from when we were in school. So I'll always stand by him. It just sucks to watch. The hormones have, as expected, tanked his emotional resilience.

What's really sick is that the old "friends" we had in high school, who happened to be directly responsible for several of his suicide attempts, treat him a million times better now, and totally support his medicalization. They have no idea.

I'm reading "Art of talking" by Friedemann Schulz von Thun (I don't know how to translate it)
I wanted to get some self help book to teach myself how to talk better but this is more of a psychological book that explains the process of talking itself. It's not what I was looking for but it's pretty interesting nonetheless.
Other than that I'm listening to Count of Monte Christo audiobook, I'm on about 3 chapters per week now, I kind of miss commuting because of it because I can't bring myself to listen to it normally and I used to burn through audibooks since I had about 2 hours of walking a day (because I'm scared of public transportation) when I used to go to uni.
