Stoicism is a weak cookie cutter approach to true enlightenment and rational being. Many young guys flock to it in hopes it can help with their lack of masculinity. Its hate is deserved. It is a lazy and weak method for boys who are not capable of understanding and processing their emotions.

A man goes to the world and strips naked. He says, "here I am, this is me. I will fuck and I will fight". Of course he will get scowls and enemies, he does not care, for that is what a man is.

The eunuch on the other hand won't do that. He is afraid. "What if they don't like my naked body? What if I am rejected?". He cowers, and submits to the world; he is a submissive. He does not strip naked, instead he walks in front of the world with a robe. He shows nothing. This pleases the world, for he did not offend it, he did not say he will fuck or fight, he instead said, "I will do what you want". This is the stoic. "I will be whatever you want me to be". This is the stoic. The weak man, the eunuch, someone who says nothing in hopes it will be always better than something. He is not a real man, nor even so pathetic to he called a woman, no, he is less than that. He is the stoic, a sad, submissive, and pathetic spawn.

No it is philosophy of ethics or, "what is the good life." The difference here is that Stoicism seeks the end purpose and fulfillment in life, while self help seeks a solution to problems in life. A surprising distinction in purpose to be sure!

Penguin's version of his letters has an excellent selection and great translation with the account of his death from Tacitus, honestly don't know much about the Oxford selections. If you want all the letters, Dover is the cheapest option availible and it isn't half bad if you don't mind early 20th century English

Actual Stoicism is fascinating, the modern bastardization of it is just self-help schlock with a classical veneer.
The entirety of the "dude just don't feel anything bro" is based on the notion of Divine Providence. There is no reason for despair because there is no true evil in the eyes of God, who shares an infinite love and respect for all creation. Every evil is really just a delayed good, we just can't grasp it due to the omniscience of God.
Modern Stoicism, on the other hand, seems to advance emotional steadfastness for the exact opposite reason. It's Rick and Morty 'nihilist' bullshit, that no one should feel anything because nothing really matters. That's retarded.
Stoicism is intensely connected with the rational, provident God. Without that God it's just a pointless 21st century religion, basically just Humanism but more cynical.
