Basically this; most of the hardcover books you find there can be found for a couple dollars cheaper on ebay, no use paying 7, 8, 9 dollars per hardcover. Good for finding local stuff; the one near me has a huge clearance section, hard to beat $2 a book. Between this place and my local Goodwills, I don't have anywhere else to buy books

I used to live in San Antonio, for about 8 months, and then Austin, for a year or so. In general I found Austin to be one of the worst cesspools of self obsession and consumerism I've ever experienced. 6th Street, Rainey Street felt like painted-orange funhouse mirror mazes of 21st century rot, all baked in with a disgusting corporate DIY aesthetic, that somehow, this city, which has been growing exponentially since 2008, is still the "weird" little pocket of creativity in the Texas wasteland, when in reality the city has been financed by suits since the turn of the millennium, smelling the impending craft revolution and desperation of genuine though. What you ended up with is a shithole, though admittedly, a pretty one, filled with egotistical people lining the pockets of millionaires while spitting down on their statesmen as backwards, phony bigots. I hated that city. San Antonio had some good food. I miss these Half Price Books.

It’s very good and the selection was better than I expected. You’ll have to go near the back to get to the classics and history shelves though. About the only good bookstores left in my area. B&N is trash and might as well stop selling books, and the independent store doesn't stock anything interesting.
