Prose fiction is the most plebian form of literature. Germans are more patrician and excel at poetry and philosophy.

That's because of your own lack of culture. You're either an American or american-tier stupid.

I posted four threads on him a while ago. No one reads him apparently, and he's quite unknown by people in both German academia and Germany outside of the Hamburg area; so no one outside of Germany knows him.
Schwarze Spiegel is really nice. Pocachontas und die Umsiedler is also great. Very homely feeling as for any German. Zettels Traum is weird but at least worth a look for writing inspiration, and most remarkable of all, his opinions and experience working with both German and English language make his essays and letters worth a read for every true writer on this god forsaken, illiterate board.

I think I should check those out. Thank you. —Zettels Traum looks too imposing

I'm sure you're just fucking around and actually know who those acclaimed and important authors are. Surely, for fucks sake, someone as ignorant as you are (hopefully) pretending to be wouldn't be on a board dedicated to literature. If you meant that sincerely, there may not be any hope for you at this point and you'd be better off taking your dimwitted, simian-browed, fucking bumbling ignorant self somewhere else. Fucking people like you shouldn't exist.

Thats really over-simplifying his complex relationship with Christianity, I’d sooner call him a Rosicrucian, a Christian esotericist, a kind of mason, a ceremonial magician, pagan and Christian in multiple aspects. His works and planned works are filled to the brim with esotericism, spirit evocation, initiation, direct verbatim quotes from Masonic initiations and direct allusions (not even in Faust, just check serpent and beautiful lily or his work on the magical flute.)

I think Goethe’s thoughts on the matter are summarized well in his short “confessions of a beautiful soul” in which he writes of a Christian mystic and how the goal of one; that attainment of spiritual beauty occurs through obedience with the principles of ones soul. This unity of the Will, action and the laws pervading the soul constitute the harmony known as beauty grace to Goethe, and it’s clear that this unity and freedom of self, beauty and Will is the key to the religion of goethe and he holds no exclusion towards this specific just to Christianity or his form of it, but rather living ones life totally and consistently is the key. Also there’s an entire aesthetic religion in his and Schiller’s thoughts which really isn’t too different from the religious conception of art that Wagner holds.

Just saying he’s a Christian really takes out the nuances.
