>And this fella right here wrote a 1-star review on Amazon, whining about the quality of the Kindle version.
>Next up we have Abdul from Bangladesh, who wrote a 5-star review containing the single word 'good'.

lmao yes, weeks after publishing my first book i see on amazon with horror a one star review, awaiting an absolute literary BTFOing i discover to my frustration a review saying "item arrived late". Sales never recovered from it.

Amazon should remove those; they're obviously a mistake. And indeed they have zero value because in most cases the bookseller is not identified.

I don't read reviews before buying books. I usually find books I want to read through stumbling on interviews with the author on youtube and thinking "I like this fella, I'll get his book", or by looking in the references & resources sections of other books I've read and enjoyed, or by searching for books on specific topics, oftentimes on relevant publishers' sites, and then I buy those books on Blackwell's, because fuck Jeff Bezos, and throughout the entire process I practically never read a single review. Sometimes I hit up goodreads, but usually to see how other people have rated books I've already read - it's never informed a purchase.
