We read brave new world in highschool so I had to go out of my way to read 1984, which I liked better, probably because I read it outside of school because I agree more with BNW’s take on the demise of society than 1984. Weird.

But I did. I read it on my own in high school. The only popular book I had trouble with at that age was Clockwork Orange, because the Nadsat dialogue irritated me as a teenager. Didn't actually read it until my 20s.

BNW is an easier read. The protagonist is an outsider, its a bit more exciting, I guess.

We by Zamyatin in the proper dystopia novel. Orwell and Huxley were each inferior derivates.
