So I've read (in no particular order); DADOES, Flow my tears, Ubik, the three stigmata of palmer eldritch, A Scanner Darkly, and am currently reading Dr. Bloodmoney.

I tried time out of joint but couldn't get into it, what are some essential PKD I should read besides the VALIS trilogy? (not ready for that yet)

You could try Broken Bubble because it's a bit different — it's not sci-fi and not bonkers. There are two couples and the main woman has a fling with the other man. I found it surprisingly sane and sensitive. PKD must have experienced this, I think, because something very similar happens in Confessions of a Crap Artist. It obviously had some special significance for him.

Other than that, Man in the High Castle is sort of the obvious choice, although I think it's overpraised. And for more variety you could try a few short stories. Some are very lighthearted (The War With The Fnools, for example.)

I liked the unteleported man. It was unfinished, but what was there was good.

>Confessions of a Crap Artist
I came here to recommend this book. It's not sci fi but it has soul.

OP, I did but enjoy the Valis trilogy myself. My favorites were Ubik and Three Stigmata

Man in the high castle is too slow and the point of the book is weakly delivered. I know the show is completely different but the show probably sucks ass whereas the book is ok.

I used to read him a lot in translation but the first time I tried in English he just sounded like a schizo /pol/ poster.

After I finished Ubik I left it out on the coffee table and my dad tried to read it. He had no idea what was going on and looked at me like I had rabies for a month once I told him I really liked it.

Martian Tine-Slip is very good.

Also don’t forget radio free albemuth once you’ve read the valis trilogy.

Exegesis after late-era PKD.
Some of his works are pot-boilers.

How'd you like all of those? I've only read a scanner darkly and half of man in the high castle.
