So I finished evangelion and I really enjoyed it. Does anyone know any literature that’s similar to it in the “psychology and wierd god shit” sort of way?

Posting an obvious one. These books are memes because of the popularity on here, but really good. They’re similar in the same sort of trippy sense. Like how Eva goes off the rails toward the ending.

The virgin Evangelion
>whiny protagonist
>generic mecha show that masks its mediocrity with some elementary school psychology
>religious iconography devoid of any meaning, just there to make the show look "exotic"
>pretentious
>shit waifus
>cash cow that will get milked until everyone stops buying Asuka figurines

The Chad Gurren Lagann
>protagonist with actual character development that becomes a badass
>doesn't use cheap tricks to attract an audience, runs on rule of cool

yeah. evangelion is the only anime i have ever watched and it fucked me up. it fucked up all of Japan too and it's still fucking people up despite it being 30 years old at this point. it's one of those once in a lifetime masterpieces.

to be clear, the media you want to watch are the very original TV series episodes (i think there are 25 or so) and then 'end of evangelion' which is a 90 minute movie. there is lots of horse shit out there in terms of remakes that you need to avoid. Original TV series + end of evangelion movie is all you need.
