I walked in on a friend reading this once and he read a passage out loud to me - something about Patrick Bateman nailing some qt3.14's fingers to the floor. She seemed pretty nice too so it was nauseating to hear that. In retrospect, I am really not surprised that Ellis is gay.

>the part where he cuts the kid's throat at the zoo and then pretends to be a doctor so he can watch the kid die in his arms
yeah i'm thinking based.

The worst kind of gay: a fat and ugly gay. Not even their own kind accept them.

OP you're not alone, the last quarter of the book is kind of meh. That being said, the male banter is great and the part where he sealed a starving rat inside a woman's vagina was also pretty funny.

Another anon in one of the 30 threads about American Psycho that we've had in the past 3 days suggested that the pasty gay nerd from the book is actually a self-insert, seems to be a pretty likely possibility desu.

Most of the book was alright, especially the killing and the humiliation stuff (urinal "cake" and zoo kid were kino). Its just that a lot of the stuff in the book didn't go anywhere, especially the parts where he would go on encyclopedia tangents about whatever song he's listening to or clothing or whatever he decided to be autistic about in that scene. Some of it worked, but some times it just fucking dragged, and when it dragged, it felt like the read just slowed to a fucking crawl. One of the last music rants near the end of the book damn near made me want to quit because it just got annoying.

It's OK. It's a book for teenagers to self insert and project into the main character
