Nothing really wrong with this quote (in isolation), he is just stating a opinion and one that seems malleable enough. He is "skeptical" of it -- maybe if you proved him wrong he'd change his mind? What's the problem there? Of course there are situations where your perception can be fooled, but I am quite sure you live you life by similar principles of skepticism for the sake of practicality, if you aren't insane.

Could be better. Are Dawkins and Nye "anti-philosophy"? Maybe, but this meme does not convince me of it at all. In fact, it actually makes me think the opposite, supposing these are the hardest hitting quotes that could be found -- not an unreasonable assumption since the people chosen are already cherry-picked meme public figures which are not all that representative of prominent scientists in the same way the left column is for physicists.

Spinoza reminds me of Augustine if Augustine did not accept an interventionist god by faith and accept Jesus (which was a big part of his true conversion was getting over that hump of accepting jesus which he didn't do for quite awhile even when he knew and accepted God, he was basically 'Jewish'.)

I think that Genesis and Augustine's interpretation of genesis is very profound and has a lot of truth to it, but I have trouble accepting an interventionist god.

Does anybody have any thoughts for what I should read further?
