R.C. Waldun

Youtuber who has a sizeable following.

Has dreams of becoming a great writer, but his first novel, The Learned Disguise was such a heaping pile that it got blasted by some figures in the YouTube community and even gained some notoriety on here.

Many /lit/izens bought the book simply to see how bad it was. Waldun took the book off of Amazon because he saw all the ridicule he was getting.

Pretty sure he even caught wind of /lit/ making funof him

Also, he was becoming such a meme on here that all Waldun threads at one point were deleted and many users in those threads (myself included) got temp banned for several days for participating and creating such threads.

It was fun while it lasted.

At best you are being pretentious, at worst you are being a luddite.

>> No.17023944

This dude is what happens when you don't go through cringe phases as a teenager. You don't built the right emotional tools to deal with that emulation impulse, so even as an adult you're still sabotaging yourself by trying to become [group] not by focusing on practical things but focusing on shallow, symbolic signifiers of lifestyle and identity instead.

If he had had the confidence to buy a trenchcoat or dye his hair pink at 16 none of this would be happening.

>> No.17024009

Disappointing he took the book off Amazon even if it did suck. At least he's productive and ships his lit. He's like 18, if he keeps it up he could be a successful writer. Hopefully he will learn that people are assholes, you shouldn't care for the opinions of them and re-release the book. Fuck anyone hating on him.

negative attention is still attention
you can improve your writing, but you can't get interest in your new work out of nowhere
everyone would know me as that bad writer, and then after 1 year, 2, 3, 10 whatever, they would check out my new work just out of curiosity, to see how bad my book is this time

It's sad that some online bullying make him quit his job as shop assistant at the book shop :( I feel bad about what happened. Maybe we should've pretended his book was good

It all started when RWC posted this video about his brand new book, the Learned Disguise. He deleted this video off Youtube when he saw the threads on /lit/ making fun of him
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-3OAnl6vFdNEiY_TFv62T5rFNrF5l2xB/view

I would just suggest going on warosu and searching up "RC Waldun" and "The Learned Disguise" and read all the archived threads. But here's the QRD
> basically at the end of October the YouTube algorithm starts heavily suggesting RC Waldun for people who watch book related videos
> so a few anons who are mildy interested click
> RC Waldun's notoriety on YouTube upticked because of his Dark Academia video
> so /lit/ see this video and proceeds to make fun of him for Dark Academia and being poser for the aesthetic
> it was basically a one off thing to laugh at people like Waldun
> Waldun threads died down because they were solely tied to Dark Academia and mocking that aesthetic
> then a week later, an anon discovered Waldun is a self-published author
> shit hits the fan because the Amazon preview reveals it is a heaping pile of garbage full of grammatical errors and horrible prose
> it gets even worse because Waldun's entire channel seems to be built around his image as a writer and the advice he gives as an experienced writer to people who want to write
> turns out the dude can't write at all and it's another case of a pretentious douchebag stuck up his own asshole
> classic blind leading the blind scenario
> somehow RC gets wind of people making fun of him on /lit/
> he proceeds to scrub The Learned Disguise from the internet
> he pulled all ebook versions out of stores
> removed the link on his website litpublications for The Learned Disguise
> privated two videos on YouTube that talk about The Learned Disguise after they were shared on /lit/
> some guy from /lit/ who doesn't hate Waldun makes an honest review on YouTube after seeing all these threads
> he critically destroys the book
> Waldun leaves a seething comment on the video claiming the next book will be better
That's basically it.

This is the thread that brought RC to /lit/'s attention.

I wouldn't be so sure. Literature enthusiasts are very picky. It'd be hard for him to build a good reputation with a debut like that. I mean, we will read him because he's a meme, but no serious reader will spare time on this -proven- bullshit.
