The English language was created by poets, a five-hundred year enterprise of emotion and metaphor, the richest dialogue in world literature. French rhetorical models are too narrow for the English tradition. Most pernicious of French imports is the notion that there is no person behind a text. Is there anything more affected, aggressive, and relentlessly concrete than a Parisian intellectual behind his/her turgid text? The Parisian is a provincial when he pretends to speak for the universe.

English can be a very beautiful language, but only when used correctly. Only the greats did it, and today it's almost impossible. The poetic parts of English come from French.

For example, if you say "sea of shit" in French it sounds the same as saying "shit shit" or "sea of sea of". There are a bunch more examples like that.

Literally the simplest language in existence, except maybe Persian. The major reason we don't have great literature anymore. Speaking English literally dumbs down the brain. The greatest writers in English (Melville, Conrad etc.) were not even native and they took their complex syntaxic brains and made it into something highter. Then American "cultural hegemony" came along and every three words were interrupted with "like" and "you know". Awful.

Trumpesque American English is probably the lowest complexity of language anyone ever spoke. God have mercy on our great European culture.

Anti-Anglo posters will look at the complex orthography of languages like Japanese and call you an idiot if you have any difficulty with it, but when they have difficulty with the much simpler issue of English spelling, they use it as an occasion to insult English rather than recognize their own incompetence. Very telling.
