The goal of socialism is to make it in every person’s self interest to care about collective property and wellbeing. It is still selfish. Also you don’t even have a basic understanding of marxism, this meme is retarded.

capitalism doesn't work because it's extremely wasteful for no good reason and it demoralizes the majority of the labor force

People are incentivised to be selfish under capitalism. People don't have this incentive under communism because people's needs are met. There is no need to hoard shoes if you know that whenever you need shoes, you can get them.

Wrong on both counts. According to marxist theory, the problem is not that capitalism doesn’t work, but that it’s unfair. As for selfishness, it’s not intrinsic to human beings and is caused by capitalism: in communism no one will have any reason to act selfishly, the system will simply be arranged such that selfishness will be of no concern. Imagine stealing food at a free buffet, it’s just nonsense. Now, by all means disagree with these two points if you like, but there is no contradiction here.

It’s a false dichotomy. Both the all-altruistic bugman doesn’t exist, but neither does the super selfish atomized capitalist man. It’s somewhere in between by nature, and people can be nurtured to behave in one way or another in greater and less ways. If we have to choose anything, a more altruistic society would be preferable to the clownworld we live in now

Marx actually thought that everyone acts in their own interest, that's why class antagonisms exist in the first place.

>The goal of socialism is to make it in every person’s self interest to care about collective property and wellbeing.
This. The state withers away because the collective interest (interest of the hypothetical state) becomes isomorphic with the individual interest. What is surreptitious and disagreeable about this is that it commits to an essentialism of the proletariat, completely ignores the advent of the middle class and that a person can have interests contrary to their class along, for example, 'arbitrary' divisions such as race, nation, club, family, and other affliations. There's also Stirner's arguments. It's really no wonder the communist nations ended up brutalizing their populations
