Alright, I admit that I deliberately misread the comic to make an inflammatory remark. However, I doubt that sensory overload can be equated with death. Being alive but having 0 agency over your consciousness still means being alive - atleast in a vegitative state, more comparable to plants or simple organisms (frogs).

I could see why people would find this state of eternal (conscious?) vegitation preferable to outright death. My problem with the comic is that it seems to be juxtaposing its cure for death with a model for life (risking personal suffering in order to have an "adventure"). This does kind of muddy the issue.

The ultimate tradeoff is any further agency you might have, say if you changed your mind about wanting to be in the chair, seems to vanish when you participate. To me, that's very frightening. By accepting the chair she fails in two tasks: she doesn't "try" because there is no "trying" if you cannot back out. She fails in understand that there was never any "trying", she was "submitting". Second, she will never, in fact, adventure again. She will only experience pleasure as if she were adventuring, which means nothing to her.
Overall the girl was really dumb. She should have asked to take a tour of the facility and I'm 100% positive she would have been strongly against "trying" if she did.
