I don't know about romance, but my guilty lit pleasure is that I sometimes will read books by woman authors only because I think they're attractive, without giving much thought to what the books are actually about.

I liked Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts, but really I only liked the murder mystery in it.
I think the only romance I didn't cringe at was the one between Fantômas and lady Beltham, and that's because it's so imperfect, mixed in with many other things, and the lady gives off a vibe of a real woman and not some confused, overgrown child.

The Rebuilding Year
It's about a disabled ex-firefighter who's studying to become a doctor and the divorced groundskeeper of his uni. Both never had a relationship with a man before. It's quite a comfy read.
