Which books are a good intro to gnosticism? What it really is, what its branches are and so on and so forth? I only know what it is on a surface level and am very interested to find out more.

What about esoteric fiction? As in novels that deal with this these things as a subject matter, I would like to have more reccomendations.

I recently read The Fisherman that deals with it and pretty neatly, and now reading The Chymical Wedding which is also very good.

Not simply subtext, if you are mentally ill (or enlightened?) enough you can interpret esoterism in absolutely everything. I mean as an actual subject matter.

Theosophy is terrible but attracted a lot of good artists and occultists sadly, ranging from John Delville to papus to Crowley.

this list is a fucking mess desu. why is there a tarot section with just jorodowski and tomberg??
why does the alchemy section have 5/7 texts from the 20th century (and most of them are 'primary' works being given as if they are 'secondary')?
why do they recommend reading the complete works of aristotle for neoplatonism????
why are there two general introductions to esotericism in the 'occult philosophy' section? (this whole section is garbage desu)

At the very least you should read the Corpus Hermeticum and the New Testament. A knowledge of the Church Fathers and Platonic philosophy helps as well. If you've never heard of Teilhard de Chardin, you should also look up a summary of his ideas.

But it's the type of book where you have to be well read in general to absorb it. If know at least in outline about 60% of what he's referring to, it's easy to osmose the rest. However, if you're a neophyte in spirituality/occult sciences/philosophy, it's better to spend your time building a basis of general knowledge.
