Is he implying there are other gods besides him?
If so why did he create them?

What did he mean by this?
He’s the god you respect first
Is he implying there are other gods besides him?
Yes
If so why did he create them?
He didn’t

According to the Bible, he created the universe out of nothing.
Where do these other gods come from then?

The official Yahwehist position is that all of the other gods were fictional characters invented by humans. The exact reason why Yahweh chose to hide away for thousands of years, leaving humans with ample time to invent other gods is left as an exercise for the attentive reader.

I used the wrong term, I meant to say Yahwist as in, a practitioner of Yahwism. Unless you were making an obscure joke, in which case, well done. Obscure literary jokes are always welcome on /lit/.

The Bible is an ethnic mythology that is an amalgamation of Egyptian, Zoroastrian, Semitic, and Canaanite tradition. The Bible readily acknowledges other gods, such as Baal and Tamuz. When I was raised in the church, these were viewed as demons. But if you read the actual mythologies, they’re saviors of rival tribal groups.
The OT is an ethnocentric Bronze Age mythology, and should be read as such.

Mormonism's Book of Abraham has an intriguing claim. Namely that humans have salways existed as primordial intelligences and that God, as the greatest intelligence, gave us sentience and bodies. I surmise then, that other gods could comprise human fabrication or 'demonic' intelligences more powerful than us, but less than God.

Also, I think its important to remember that Genesis is polemic. The Arkadia thought that God fought a serpent, whereas Israelites were like nah, God didnt need to fight (implying possibility of defeat) God willed and therfore there was.

I wish I could claim to have been clever with a joke. I was entirously sincere though as the Old Testament has atleast 4 strands of thought. Yawheist, Elohist, Deutoronist, and Levitical.

Have you guys actually read the bible, or do you just like to extrapolate indivigual quotes? throughout all the earlier books, specific gods like Dagon are mentioned, but they have absolutely no angency, and if anything it is portrayed as if they are just idols. Dagon does not do anything "other gods" dont do anything.

You're wasting your time asking anything. There's no consistency in the Semitic cults. Whether they identify as Catholics, Jewish or Muslims. All worship a Marvel-like humanoid being that is supposedly powerful but not very smart and repeatedly makes mistakes that humans have to fix through their own ungodly ideologies.
Basically their own beliefs debunk the whole idea that God created everything.
