I look at these horror lists with all of these old horror stories. What are the chances that I'll actually get scared? I'm pretty easily frightened, when at night in my living room all that I need to send me back in to my room is the word ghost and my imagination runs wild.

Try a few of these; see if they work. They're in the public domain, and can be found online, although reading them in book form is more properly aesthetic, and perhaps more scarifying. And enjoy, too, the *feel* the author conjures, which is one of the key pleasures of horror fiction, even when a story is not actually and truly "scary."
