Haven't read CoC, but a UC professor named Frederick Crews wrote a series of articles in the NYRB (of all places) utterly debunking Freud (with much seething correspondence in the Letters section).

What does it mean to debunk Freud? Do the patients freudians helped suddenly go back to being nuts? In one the articles in your top link the author claims Freud falsified his results. But what does that mean for people that are currently using his work successfully, let alone someone like Klein or Lacan? Despite plenty of hiccups I have yet to find something with a better impact than that of psychoanalysis.

If you're reading a good book it will be good no matter how many times you read and analyze it, and relying on cheap plot twists to make it "more exciting" is uncreative.
It's like saying that someone spoiled you a song, because he sang its lyrics. A song is supposed to be enjoyed thorough even if you know it, and a book even more so. The introduction kinda acts like prereading, which you should do to start reading book analytically right away and not just get to know what it's about halfway through
