The OG book you are asking for is Rhetoric by Aristotle OP. It goes over all the methods employed in tonight's debate. "facts" as a method of convincing people is a subset of one subset. It's not a very important thing at all, really.

Honestly both parties going at each other for the entire duration made the debate far more interesting than I anticipated. Then you also had the moderator seething in the corner and begging both parties for some order. It was glorious, and I for one cannot wait for the second debate

It's not a democracy. It was never designed as a democracy. The bougie founders hated democracy and had disdain for the people. They were pieces of shit who just wanted to maintain their private property and never cared for the people. The system was broken to begin with. The only way to fix this country is communist insurrection.

Trump had plenty of substance. He asked a lot of questions that people have been begging him to for years. Biden is the one who couldn't even refute anything he said, beyond saying

I know it's bait, but it is a democracy, just a variation of it. Robert Dahl has a book on that, you can find it on Lib Gen. And btw, the Founding Fathers disdain for democracy was based.

>“A few months ago I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions tell me that's true, but the facts and evidence tell me it is not.”

All you do is employ another rhetorical tactic and downplay the error. Play up the feeling behind what you said, play up how the general idea behind the fact is true, but the fact itself is inconsequential. You can also do what we saw during the debate tonight, deflect and reorient the conversation to something else. If you have extra ammo with you, you can even admit to the fact being wrong and just blast them with something else. It all depends on context and what your strong suits are and what your goals are.
