HEGEL. The Absolute Discovery: Certainty of itself or Reason = God. How Certainty of itself was found to be absolute or all reality, and therefore the same as “God,” or How it was seen that what is called “God” in Religion is in truth (reducible to, the same as) Pure Certainty of Itself or Pure Self-Consciousness (which must also allow for “intersubjectivity” – and not collapse into an undifferentiated One of Pure Identity, cf. “I am in the Father, the Father in Me,” I am in them, they are in Me” etc). This way: Kant sketched the Principle. Fichte-Schelling saw its true value and use, and developed it, but not adequately. Finally in Hegel’s Phenomenology we see how Consciousness of an Object gives way to Consciousness of Consciousness or Certainty of Itself, that is, the latter steps into the place of the Object (Essence, Truth, Being, What Is)! See, “There is nothing behind the Curtain or Appearances unless we go behind there ourselves!” Then as we go on 1. this Certainty of Itself becomes The Concept, Der Begriff (= Self, Thought, Self-Consciousness), and 2. gradually “The Self’s meaning grows/expands,” gradually more and more features of the Object, more and more “In itselfs,” become known to be Self or get counted for Certainty of Self!! At the end, all alleged Being, Objectivity, Otherness (Anders-Sein) no longer holds out, is seen to have been an illusion, or in reality nothing but Certainty of Itself!! So, the Result is: BEING = CERTAINTY OF ITSELF! So, God too = Certainty of Itself! Also see religion to Absolute Knowing where Vorstellung (and the Vorstellung “God”) is converted into Concept or Self or “Self’s Act within itself.” Also: The Meaning of “Certainty of itself” and “Being-for-itself.” It means 1. Identity-in-Difference (cf. TUA, unity of self-consciousness {difference}), 2. Certainty (as subject) of Certainty (as object/being), like “I = I,” 3. See Fichte-Schelling’s “self-reverting Activity,” “Think yourself and notice how you do it,” think the Wall, now He that thought the Wall! And Hegel, “self-cons is essentially the reflection out of the world of sense and perception, back into itself!” Cf. “Reflection-into-Self” and the Meaning of Self-Consciousness, and Fichte’s “The I as subject-object” : a) Consciousness of an Object, then b) Cons of Cons as Cons of an Object; Fichte, “Consciousness is my immediate object, not the Statue! Schelling, “The I is not an Object like a Thing, It only becomes an Object by making Itself into an Object!! And no one else can see it, Your Pure I, it only exists for itself! = Being-for-itself!
