Do you ever try to visualise philosophical concepts in your head? I imagined myself as a baby looking at a rock as I was reading the first part of Phenomenology.

Yeah I always do. It is hard though, and sometimes I don't know if it helps me or the opposite. Reading Spinoza currently and trying to do this, but it is very hard

Well of course he's going to be difficult to imagine, just look at this:

this diagram just shows the structure of the book. it’s not related to his system in any way

he is a Jew so chances are, if he is too hard to visualize, that he is just a lying kike bamboozler. If you like the pantheistic message just read a goy who said the same thing and you'll see how easy it is to visualize - that's because mr. Baruch was a swindler and scammer
>HURR THAT'S BIGOTRY
No because the Jew has no soul therefore their blood is not human

Maybe read Ethics before posting about it. Do you even know anything about Spinoza?

I do.
Like >>16409158 I am very split on if it helps or not. I think in my experience, being able to phrase a point into some sort of visible analogy or symbolic framework can provide the 'epiphany' I need to make a concept click- but then one runs the danger of interrogating the analogy too far and getting lost in the details.

I had a philosophy professor who claimed that metaphor in is the last recourse of a philosopher who is unable to clearly state their ideas. I generally think this is good advice- especially for undergrads- but I am not sold on if this always holds true.

Dont let my one professor discourage you, anon. Remember- even Plato used analogies every now and then!

Didn't Hegel specifically deride picture-thinking (Vorstellung)?

Ive been reading Plotinus and it warms my brainlet heart when he occasionally takes the time to restate what he just worked through abstractly as some sort of image.

The idea of intellect 'emanating' from The One as heat from a fire is pretty useful, and I appreciate him taking the time to put it that way when he really did not need to.
