I'm halfway into Consider the Lobster in order to read his main meme book later and I literally cannot take this faggot anymore. Why did people ever consider Gen X: The Person to be good?

>dude muh context

Fuck you, this shit's gay and has no historical value/aged like a latina housemaid. Everyone who likes this nerd in 2020 must be a giant cornball.

I think he would have said something like:
>I'm just a little writer, I don't think anyone cares what I think politically about all this going on, but it's really scary to see some of the things goin' on in the U.S., and how television and the internet have just made it worse. I wrote my book about domestic terrorism as actual acts of violence, but I think I may have got that wrong. It's indifference, incompetence, and spite at the very top that have cause so much of what's going on to happen. I mean, just look at how CNN and Fox and Brietbart and all these groups just keep talking everything as if both sides have legitimate arguments. And these people at the top tweeting out about how "someone should do something." They all just expect problems to be fixed after someone points them out, it's trickly, because then we come to the problem of normaliziation. I mean, come on, look at this stuff, man. The sky is on fire and the coast is underwater while a deadly virus is killing thousands of americans. Do you really think this is normal? Because when I turn on the TV, that's exactly what they make everything out to be. Normal. And that's how the incompetent people at the top get away with it. W-was that good? I was almost lucid there for a second.

"filtered" is the worst new meaningless buzzword, disliking something doesn't mean you didn't understand it. he writes accessible drivel so you'd have to be pretty dumb to not comprehend such epic takes as "dude television is/leads to alienation, maaaaan" or "porn conventions so surreal" (which is such a xoomer take, nobody in 2020 should be even remotely stunned by the crass hyperconsumerist ape-brain of the adult entertainment awards, and to do so is to ignore that 90% of adults are now of the same mind with the people he clutched pearls at)

I get it was a "statement" over a decade ago but maybe I'm just tired of all these pomo faglords, getting real sick of contemporary cultural criticism or satire which all seems to boil down to the same takes over and over again, written in uninspired prose and with no new insights. time to become a fedora who only reads shit written before WWII.

I'm reading him on a Kindle Paperwhite and it's fucking torture because the touchscreen is turbo inaccurate. Somehow I don't have any problems clicking the footnote link that instantly takes you to the footnote (which are on their own pages in the back), but whenever I click the "return to page" link it has like a 10% chance of working and otherwise just goes back or forth one page like a normal page turn.
