Pigs are fucking evil

>In his ‘Chronological List of Excommunications and Prosecutions of Animals from the Ninth to the Nineteenth Century’, Evans lists no fewer than 25 cases of pigs being prosecuted, often for killing infants, between 1250 and 1500. In this, swine far outrank any other animal in Evans’ list

jesus killed 2000 pigs

pic rel is a pig being punished for killing and eating a child.

Superstitious sailors consider pigs to be unlucky because they have cloven hooves like the Devil and are terrified of water.[34] Pigs would not be carried on boats. Fishermen once regarded pigs as harbingers of bad luck: a fisherman seeing a pig on his way to work would rather turn round and go home. This even extended to a prohibition of the word "pig" on board a vessel. This is why the animals were referred to, across North East England, as "gissies".

I think punishing a pig is one of the most idiotic and backwards thing a human can do. It basically means the human assumes they themselves are equivalent to a pig, as it ascribes moral culpability to the latter. If a pig has killed, just kill it, but don't pretend that there is a need or a place for justice.

Literally all of them.
When humanity moves past the barbaric focus on transcendent progressivism where every single person is supposed to take personal accounting for all suffering, future humans will find it incredibly obvious that it's fine to eat meat because that's literally what the body is supposed to do. You can even see this in medicine where there's increasing focus on using the body's own mechanisms to fix itself. People aren't subscribing to the idea that the body given to us by God is disgusting and needs to be fixed, in the highest echelons of bioscience we're finding that the body is perfect and unflawed, and needs only to be directed. All the natural behaviors that come with that are similarly to be embraced.

Neuralink, which would see humans receive brain implants readable by a computer, is Elon Musk’s latest big idea. But digital control of our thinking would be a step in the wrong direction.
At the end of August, Elon Musk presented the first living proof of the success of his Neuralink project at a press conference in Los Angeles. On display was what he referred to as “a healthy and happy pig” with an implant which made its brain processes readable to a computer. I’d be curious to hear how he knew the pig was happy…

Anyway, what we were then told was a familiar story. Musk emphasized the health benefits of Neuralink (silently passing over its potential for an unheard-of control over our inner lives), and announced that he is now looking for human volunteers to try it out.

Using pigs first, then men, is an ominous parallel with electroshock therapy, which was invented by Italian psychiatrist Ugo Cerletti in 1938. After Cerletti saw electric shocks imposed on pigs before slaughter, making them more docile in their final moments, he was inspired to try the same treatment on humans.

Maybe this is a low blow against Musk, as extremes are to be avoided when considering Neuralink. We should neither celebrate it as an invention that opens up the path towards singularity (a divine collective self-awareness), nor fear it as a danger that we will lose our individual autonomy and become cogs in a digital machine.

>> No.16328871

>>16328861
Musk himself is falling into an ideological dream, as seen in the headline and subhead of a recent report in The Independent: “Elon Musk predicts human language will be obsolete in as little as five years: ‘We could still do it for sentimental reasons.’ Neuralink chief says firm planning to connect device to human brain within 12 months ...”

Even if we ignore the technical feasibility of this dream, let’s just think about what the reality of our minds directly sharing experiences – outside the realm of language – would mean for the process of, for example, erotic seduction.

Imagine a seduction scene between two subjects whose brains are wired so that the other’s train of thought is accessible. If my prospective partner can directly experience my intention, what remains of the intricacies of seduction games? Will the other person not react with something like: “OK, I know you desperately want to f**k me, so why are you asking me all those stupid things about the movies I enjoy and what I would like to have for dinner? Can’t you feel that I would never have sex with you?” All would be over in a second.

More fundamentally, the distance between our inner life, the line of our thoughts, and external reality is the basis of the perception of ourselves as free. We are free in our thoughts precisely in so far as they are at a distance from reality, so that we can play with them, conduct thought experiments, and engage in dreaming, with no direct consequences to reality. No one can control us there.

>> No.16328876

>>16328810
Yeah, well, bacon

>> No.16328877

>>16328871
Once our inner life is directly linked to reality, so that our thoughts have direct consequences in reality – or can be directly regulated by a machine that is part of reality, and are in this sense no longer ‘ours’ – we effectively enter a post-human state.

Neuralink should thus make us raise basic questions: not just “Will we still be human if immersed in a wired brain?” but also “What do we understand by ‘human’ when we raise such questions?”

I’ve dealt with these questions, including the new, unheard modes of social control opened up by Neuralink, in my book ‘Hegel in a Wired Brain’. We should never forget that if we can directly regulate processes in reality with my thoughts – for example, I just think that my coffee machine should prepare a latte macchiato, and it happens – the causal link works also in the opposite direction. Those who control the digital machine which ‘reads my mind’ can also control my mind and implant thoughts into it.

What is important for us today, in the midst of the Covid epidemic, is to see that social distancing – or rather, bodily distancing – supplements the vision of Neuralink. How?

- Zizek

Neuralink is vastly overrated novelty item. It's improbable that it will ever deliver on the host of complex features Musk, ever the hype-man, claims it will.
It's astounding how no one stops to consider how these tech corporations shape the direction of society with unilateral and anti-democratic power. They use the market's pseudo-objectivity to cloak the march of their agenda. If investors throw money at something, this is the same as a society voting in favor of a radical repatterning of the culture and social order. It's a signal that the resulting developments are foreordained and inevitable. Chomsky in effect says the same thing when he speaks about the coercive influence of markets. The market is a much of an authoritarian entity as a feudal lordship, because it constitutes this momentous, immovable force to which workers and consumers must accomodate their decisions or be left behind.
Nobody, except perhaps paraplegics, need brain chips. Yet if Musk has his way, he will create this artificial need, and a host of arbitrary new problems and dilemmas will be introduced for the sake of profit-seeking overcomplicating the world.

What is conspiratorial about the fact that these companies exert massive influence on the culture, economy, and political system? It's an open fact for all to see.

I suppose they put on a show and prosecuted animals specifically because of how abhorrent the act committed by the pig was -- killing children.

For comparison, consider the Roman punishment for parricide, which was considered one of the worst crimes:

>The person was first whipped, or beaten, with virgis sanguinis ("blood-colored rods", probably[3]), and his head was clad/covered in a bag made of a wolf's hide. On his feet were placed clogs, or wooden shoes, and he was then put into the poena cullei, a sack made of ox-leather. Placed along with him into the sack was also an assortment of live animals, arguably the most famous combination being that of a serpent, a cock, a monkey and a dog. The sack was put on a cart, and the cart driven by black oxen to a running stream or to the sea. Then, the sack with its inhabitants was thrown into the water.

Why go through all that instead of just killing the person? My guess is that this kind of things are done for symbolical reasons, rather than practical ones. Putting on a public show isn't done to deter other people from doing the same crime (Beccaria pointed out that public executions don't stop crimes, not even with human beings), but rather, to strengthen the sense of community, to show that anyone (not just people, but animals too) who try to subvert the founding values of society will be put to death in a humiliating and painful way.

I suppose the point is an affirmation/validation of the values you believe in, even if the execution is pointless and silly. It's like when someone says "fuck drumpf!!" or "fuck minorities!!" and starts a circlejerk of people saying the same thing. They don't accomplish anything in saying the same thing over and over, but it feels good to be part of that experience. I think it's comparable to the ritual involving a scapegoat, where the point is the symbolical meaning (purifying the community), not the practical act (killing a random goat).

A pig is a jolly companion,
Boar, sow, barrow, or gilt--
A pig is a pal, who'll boost your morale,
Though mountains may topple and tilt.
When they've blackballed, bamboozled, and burned you,
When they've turned on you, Tory and Whig,
Though you may be thrown over by Tabby or Rover,
You'll never go wrong with a pig, a pig,
You'll never go wrong with a pig!

All faggots idealizing the conditions of animal kingdom need to spend some time in a jungle, animals are not "cute" and "based", they're ruthless machines designed to kill and devour other animals.

“ The Industrial Revolution has given us the gut feeling that we are not prepared for the major upheavals that intelligent technological change can cause. There is evidence that the world began to collapse once the Luddites started smashing modern automated looms. It is therefore important to use reason and the faculty of wisdom to continue the changes as we have done before time and time again.”

The Steinerians call it Ahriman. It's shocking sometimes how closely Steiner's predictions accord with what's going on.

From a 1910 lecture:
>.. the will is there to harness human energy to mechanical energy. These things should not be treated by fighting against them. That is a completely false view. These things will not fail to appear; they will come. What we are concerned with is whether, in the course of world history, they are entrusted to people who are familiar in a selfless way with the great aims of earthly evolution and who structure these things for the health of human beings or whether they are enacted by groups of human beings who exploit these things in an egotistical or in a group-egotistical sense. That is what matters. It is not a question of the what in this case; the what is sure to come. It is a question of the how, how one tackles these situations. The what lies simply in the meaning of earthly evolution. The welding together of the human nature with the mechanical nature will be a problem of great significance for the remainder of earthly evolution.

1921
>And from the earth will well up terrible creations of beings who in their character stand between the mineral kingdom and the plant kingdom as automative beings with super-natural intellect, an immense intellect. When this development takes hold, the earth will be covered, as with a web, a web of terrible spiders, spiders of enormous wisdom, which however, in their organization don’t even reach the plant status. Terrible spiders which will interlock with each other, which will imitate in their movements all that which humanity has thought of with their shadowlike intellect that was not inspired by a new imagination, through that which is to come through Spiritual Science. All man’s thoughts of this kind, which are unreal, will come alive. The earth will be covered ... with terrible mineral-plant-like spiders, which will link up with empathy but evil intention. And man ... will have to unite with these terrible mineralplant-like spider creatures.

>There are those [human beings] who are quite consciously allies of the intention to en-web human existence.
