I'm going to read Habermas' Theory of Communicative Action and you can't stop me!

It's too late, I'm mostly done with the public sphere book and Austin's little How To Do Things With Words and a little Marx reader as essential background. While I haven't read his main sociological sources (Weber, Durkheim, Parsons) I'm satisfied that my grounding is solid enough. Gonna slog through the back notes first to see if there's anything of interest, then compose a brief reflection on frequently invoked names/concepts to get a basic run-down on all of those before proceeding with the body of the text. He is very concerned, at the end, to insist that his theory doesn't fall into "foundationalism" so I'll need to look that up for a basic idea. Foundationalism/functionalism/instrumentalism.
