What does your mom think of your reading hobby?

>> No.16259307

Nothing now.
She was the big reader of my parents, and I’m sure she was glad to see me reading anything.

She proud

>> No.16259318

She thinks I'm smart because of it.

>> No.16259329

It's not a fucking hobby. The official intelligentsia is degenerate and incapable of meeting the greatest challenges of our species in the coming decades. We must form a vanguard counter-academy before it's too late.

she got me into it in the first place but sadly she doesn't read much nowadays so we don't talk about it

something about not having the "mental stamina" for it which I think is either bullshit or an early sign of dementia :(

Most of the normal people I know over the age of 40 (aka. not university professors) stopped reading. It's probably not a sign of dementia.

My mom thinks I’m a fucking loser, and she’s right. I’m going to college to hopefully unfuck my life and be able to support my parents in the future. I genuinely wish I wasn’t alive, but I’m too cowardly to kill myself.

It seems like you're using college as an escape from problems with your own life or relationships with your family. This is something I tried to do and it turned out really badly. Make sure whatever you do you are doing it for yourself not for other people.

My mom only ever cares about me getting good grades and nothing else. All she does is read the bible again and again.
My dad appreciates it though, he's actually kinda happy I'm reading more than him now.

Reading just for the sake of reading isn't worthwhile nor is it productive. Now, reading for the desire of better understanding things you're interested in, or want to better understand for a purpose? That's based. Reading text messages is reading, too, you know.

My mother is convinced reading is a waste of time; she is uneducated and couldn't possibly understand the pleasures of a man of letters such as myself. I relish in the written word; she relishes in smoking weed and doing manual labor. A yokel birthed me, but I need not be a yokel myself. She can say my intellectual labor is not true labor (this is accurate enough), but she will never be able to gainsay my delight, my rapture, my bliss at the delicate intertwining of the words that makeup our lovely English idiom.

>> No.16262084

My mom mostly reads romance novels set in Scotland or Ireland. You know, the kinds you see with the beefy dudes in kilts on the cover, and sometimes they're embracing fair maidens in their massive arms? Those kinds. I can't really discuss my reading with her. Usually if I want to talk about a book I'm reading I go to my grandma or aunt, who are both fairly well read.
