Is there any analytical philosophy that talks about stuff continentals like to talk about like how we should live?

>> No.16148405

Both sides talk about everything, they can't be stereotyped like these are the ethics guys and these are the logic guys. The difference between them is that continental philosophy is mostly shit with some good and analytic philosophy is all shit.

Yep, that's modern "philosophy" for you. Plato was right, all sophistry with no knowledge on a subject. Well that's an exaggeration but you get the point.

Here you go anon. Pic related builds off the theme Nagel established in "What Is it Like to Be a Bat" that subjectivity doesn't reduce to objectivity, a significant claim in philosophy of mind (anti-reductionist). In The View From Nowhere Nagel discusses what's wrong with certain worldviews that pretend the only things that exist are the things we can understand, a view he calls 'idealist.' He also spends times discussing ethics and even existential angst. It's rare to see an analytic philosopher give an existentialist account anywhere. Nagel is the rare analytic philosopher to do so, he's also known for his work in ethics as well as his metaphysical realism and mind-body dualism, so you get a nice big picture in reading this book and one very unlike what you'd expect from the usual analytics.
