i can't figure out if Terence Mckenna was extremely intelligent or retarded

for the most part i like the guy, even though alot of his shit is super out there or blatantly wrong (timewave zero)

he's so well read compared to anyone ive ever met and it kind of oozes out and he ends up accidentally teaching history, and i agree with alot of his intuitions and general feelings

but goddamn is he hard to sell to someone.

i realize its likely he was both intelligent and retarded, its just hard to figure out how to categorize him mentally

His thoughts on Finnegans Wake are actually pretty insightful. Turns out you have to be on psychedelics to understand what the fuck is going on in that book.

The simplest categorization is to refer to him as an Art Historian. Art history sits on the border between history and an interpretive art in and of itself. Terence became a master of this inbetween space between Art and History, and that's how he was able to come up with so many prescient concepts and insights. IMO, his stoned ape, and novelty theories will be vindicated, and either form the basis of a new scientific school, or an occult spiritual rite that will likely stay underground, but have a certain kind of popular attraction.

I personally think that a lot of what he said about "The End of History" is more prescient than people realize. We are coming to a moment of total singularity of consciousness on our planet where we will inevitably be forced into adopting a unified paradigm, or killing ourselves. The consequences of this are hard to fathom but I think that there is a time not too far away where there is going to be absolute consensus about history and Religion, and I think Terence's Stoned Ape and Novelty Theories are going to play a massive role in this. There may be hold-over subversive elements that try to thwart this reckoning, but I think that if a holistic universal theory could somehow "go viral" on the internet, and people just started adopting a new singular paradigm, it will be impossible to resist.

He really wasn't that "woo-woo" though. He constantly derided the UFO and paranormal crystal people for making the psychedelic underground look nuts. He was insistent about developing a phenomenology of psychedelics that was acceptable to western scholarship. The problem is that nobody listened to him and these dumb hippies are all that remains of his legacy. It's really not his fault, he tried to speak rationally to the sub-culture of the time, but most of them were just too dumb and dense to understand the magnitude of Terence's intellect.

I'm always amazed by how tactful Terence is when he takes questions from these shameless cooks after his talks online. At the very least, these dumb hippies helped to pay Terence's bills so that he could keep writing and doing public speaking tours, but god dammit do they make him look bad.

IMO I think this is why he started having bad trips at the end of his career. Because he started out seeking some kind of academic recognition through his writing and philosophy, albeit using his counter-cultural method, but he ended up as an older man speaking in front of drugged out teenagers at these underground raves. These kids had no concern for philosophy, they were the consumerist hedonists that Terence frequently spoke out against, fully raised and bred to be good consumers. Terence was seeing the futility of trying to educate and organize these people, and I think he got super black-pilled just before falling ill.

That said I do think that he did fall for some of the 1960's libertine memes, but that is to be expected within the cultural milieu of the time. I guess the OP might be right in some regard... I think that the big issue that the psychedelic community ran into was it's total dissolution of boundaries, and this idea that through anarchic free love the Gaian mind would just magically appear. This is actually not how it works, and you have to study the classics to really understand how the Gods manifested themselves into Political and Spiritual movements. On almost every occassion, the introduction of a new spiritual and political program is heralded by some kind of military dictator. Obviously if Terence would have gone around preaching this in the 60's he would have been reviled by the hippies, and probably thrown in jail by the feds. But if you apply Terence's psychedelic theory of evolution to the classical religions, you can see how people like Caesar and Alexander the Great were probably engaged in some kind of occult rites. They took the final step though of organizing their communities into a physical military force that established the order of the universe under their watchful gaze.

TL;DR We need a God-Emperor Military Dictator to enforce a Psychedelic Cosmology in society.

Because the Alt-Right is actually onto something as far as it concerns the classics. I'm not a wignat, like I said, and I don't believe in race-realism or any of that bullshit, but I do believe that Adolf Hitler was a great man, the Holocaust never happened, and that we need to return to a traditional way of life that more closely resembles our ancient ancestors throughout the world. I think if Terence were around today, after seeing how the 1960's has crashed and burned into the rampant neo-liberalism we see today, he would have been outraged, and likely would develop certain sympathies for the alt-right movement.

If the "alt-right" wouldn't have descended into Q boomer bullshit in 2017, and the splitting of /pol/, a truly enlightened ideology could have come out of 4chan. It's still not entirely too late, but it's going to take a long time to unfuck /pol/ from the Jewish psy-op of race realism.

If Terence would have been around to see 9/11 and a bunch of other things, I can 100% guarantee you that he would at least privately have disdain for the terrorist state of Israel which is the real "Patriarchal Authority" that he ultimately ended up popularizing.

You do realize that "Our Greatest Allies" killed 3,000 innocent people by blowing the world trade centers in NYC don't you? You do realize they suck billions of dollars out of our economy so that they can murder children in the middle east right? These people are murdering terrorists who are in every way antithetical to the psychedelic values that Terence stood for. Terence was a genius, and give another 10 years on the internet, he too would have realized that Hitler did nothing wrong, and the reason we are in this predicament today is because the wrong side won WWII.

The hippies were an unconscious reaction to this very fact, and their rebellion against their parents and the post-war world was because it was dominated by the wicked Jews that orchestrated world war II and financially enslaved humanity in the aftermath of it. The conspiracy was too grand to believe back then, but people are starting to wake up.

>why does the CIA promote psychedelics?
The glowies are very interested in experiments with consciousness. They have been using all kinds of psychodelics in their secret programs like MKULTRA. Ultimately, they want to find a magic pill which could make general population passive and complient to anything. Psychodelics definitely help here. The dark side of all of these drugs is that in the end they make people slow and passive.
>why the CIA would promote psychedelic use among the general population when it's illegal though
The good term here is "controlled opposition". They create a problem and then they create a manufactured and easy controllable solution to it. They are afraid of real opposition to their mainstream narrative, so in the place where they expect opposition to rise, they either create a controlled one beforehand or opt in and destroy the existing one.
This "truthers" group like London Reel are the perfect example of this. They seem to be opposing all the modern propaganda by mildly criticizing it and offer a very passive solutions.

Okay I keep explaining this around here but I'll give you my rundown.

The MKUltra program did in fact happen. There was this totally deluded notion concocted by some brainlet in the CIA that by giving somebody LSD you could turn them into a perfect Manchurian Candidate, some kind of brainwashed super-soldier kind of thing, fully compartmentalized, no free-will, that kind of thing.

Well obviously this idea is dumb as shit and it didn't work. The feds did find out however that LSD could drive people crazy, particularly their own spooks who they were experimenting on. So during the 1960's counter cultural revolution, LSD was being shilled through the grateful dead in the same way that Marijuana and Cocaine were being sold in black communities. They wanted to make this the cool counter-cultural thing, so that they could arrest political dissidents for life. Secondarily, this drug had the added benefit of incapacitating some of the revolutionary potential of the hippies, pushing these drugs was a way to keep the hippie movement chaotic and disorganized.

I think the hippies largely had good intentions, but ultimately they failed to accomplish their revolution, in fact things got substantially worse after them. As far as Leary, McKenna, and Rogan are concerned, if they are CIA operatives, then it is very likely that they are gate-keepers and barometers. Their job is to make sure that the psychedelic movement doesn't spill over into radical revolutionary violence. In this way they are essentially blackmailed into being spooks, the only way they don't go to prison is by occassionally towing the company line as far as it concerns the CIA. This is why Rogan is required to have that CIA agent Mike Baker on his show all of the time. Rogan needs to keep pumping out pro-America propaganda that will win over the psychedelic underground.

Ultimately, politics and power can get really messy. If you end up gaining any kind of notoriety in the field of psychedelic drugs, you will be approached by feds, and you will be required to play ball or go to Jail. For Terence, Leary, and Rogan, the choice here is simple. I can work for the feds, get some government sponsored gigs, not go to jail, and keep enjoying my lifestyle, or I can try and resist the feds and go rogue, end up getting my life destroyed and in prison. Pretty simple choice to make senpai. As far as it concerns McKenna & Leary, the feds had whole cabinets filled with files on these guys, McKenna was a hash smuggler, Leary was equally susceptible to blackmail, and Rogan has eaten Psilocybin mushrooms on camera, and frequently talks about recent trips. He clearly has some kind of immunity, and it's probably because he cut a deal to keep certain political views off of his show.

Ultimately, you have to remember that just because the feds were pushing this at one point, doesn't mean they are bad. They were just looking for an excuse to arrest hippies, and dissolve the revolutionary movements popping up at the time. Civil Rights was a huge loss for the CIA, that's why they killed MLK jr., and the vietnam protests were threatening to turn into something more serious, as the weather underground started becoming more active among other groups. Charles Manson was also a CIA op, this is one good thing that Rogan has revealed on his show, and it looks like he got the green light to tell the truth on that, so the feds look like they are trying to air out some dirty laundry from the past.

The best part about this whole story though is that ultimately, LSD and the rise of the psychedelic culture ultimately has done more for dismantling the bullshit indoctrination that has crippled this country since the post WWII war. Without this massive cultural movement, we would be in a much more precarious situation. Ever notice how the alt-right is absolutely filled with pot smokers? We are the re-manifestation of the 1960's counter-culture, and the psychedelic meme-magic period was the clearest and most obvious manifestation of that. However the Jewish community has rallied to shut down our ideological program, and now it is very hard to find any online space where these counter-cultural sentiments are be expressed clearly without shills coming in to say hateful shit.

Anybody who hates the alt-right, go watch Murdoch Murdoch right now. That's what the alt-right was originally about, until it got infiltrated by paid operatives and Q boomers.

I'm going to leave this here if there is anybody who is interested in my shitposts.

Basically I created a 4 hour documentary that demonstrates how Terence McKenna's Mushroom-Cattle-Goddess Religion emerged out of the Sahara, and was practiced in the Bible, with a partially continuous tradition going through Jesus and the Islamic prophet Muhammad. I basically prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that the whole bible is the story of a Psychedelic Mushroom Drug cult, then go on to make some brief mentions about significant events in the 60's. It's a pretty deep analysis that I think is actually pretty good, there's a lot of research that went into this, even though my production quality is kind of low. If you care about this information it's worth your time, I've found some very little known things in my studies that are extremely insightful when it comes to understanding both the bible, and the world of antiquity as a whole.

It's an internet hodgepodge of footage and movies that just shows the general thrust of psychedelic drug use, and it's psychological and political effects on the cultures in the ancient levant. IMO, this doc could be done a lot better, this is my first attempt at any kind of video editing or narration. I was figuring out everything as I went, but at the end of the day I'm pretty happy that I got to get this much info crammed into such a short time period. Writing a book that will hopefully turn out a little bit more well rounded, but for now this is a quick delivery mechanism to get this information to people.

Agreed, I think that might actually be my first terence interview, that was on youtube way back in the day. I remember watching it in my dormitory rec room in highschool. Shortly after stumbled upon this amazing website that is no longer up unfortunately.

https://web.archive.org/web/20170706065522/http://deoxy.org/mckenna.htm#word

Clicking around the hyperlinks on this site was like a psychedelic wikipedia 10 years ago. Had so much fun here.

Also ended up coming across the link to an archive of Terence's personal webpage. A little sad to go there, but maybe someone here will want to check it out.

http://www.levity.com/eschaton/tm.html

After that you can cheer yourself up with the McKenna Digital Revival Series by WPAHP, he's the guy who gave me the link.

It is self published, but only on Bitchute and the internet archive atm. It's for fair use, I borrow a fuck ton of footage so I can't make any money from it. I made it because I think that the information is important, even though I doubt that this doc is going to get much traction. Working on a book and going to try and see if I can present this stuff in a marginally more serious and academic tone.

The doc is really just a condensed meme version of the really important parts, that is hopefully entertaining and informative.

I do have patrician taste though, and I basically have been mentally downloading every piece of data I can scrape from the internet about psychedelics and politics for like 10 years. It has yielded some interesting results but you have to make it through my autismo. Like I said book will be better and done under a completely different title. Anons who I've shared the doc with will be in the know though if my book blows up. I'll be citing a lot of the same ancient sources in my book, and it's essentially the same with analysis with more coverage of the greeks and classical antiquity.

I'm only 5 minutes into your video, and I have put some thought into abrahamic religions being stemmed from psychedelic use, but its something I've always disregarded because of the stark differences between them and eastern philosophy/religions which CLEARLY stem from psychedelic use. Greco-egyptian thought also has a clear indication of this method but it's becoming increasingly clear the corpus hermeticum was written 300 or so years after the birth of (so called) Jesus.

>and I think he got super black-pilled just before falling ill.
I think you're thinking about the story about the bad trips he had in the jungle one time, where he went catatonic and kept repeating the words "a lack of all meaning." I think Dennis has stated that the experience made Terence stop doing mushrooms more than once or twice a year. But that was early in his life. He still continued to trip, and if I'm not mistaken he did advocate to "when you get the message, hang up the phone." Anyway I really doubt that he was so cynical and ungrateful about the whole thing. I remember hearing him say something about the talks he did at raves and stuff and he did admit that it was a purposely simplified and more entertaining-oriented version of his spiel, but he didn't seem to be that contemptuous towards it.

Well start off with being knowledgeable and having a firm basis in the Western tradition. Then go through the Jung reading order and soon enough get to "Psychological Types" which talks about it, as well as his three or four main works in later life like Mysterium Coniunctionis which of course more talk about dualism and opposites and such.

One thing to remember is that woman is not object-oriented, she is not rational, where man is, she does not need a reason for anything. The definitions of things are not exact, she does not follow male morality as such, but by her feelings, the "law of the land" as Hegel put Clytemnestra killing Agamemnon in Aeschylus' Oresteia. And yes Hegel talks about this but I doubt you would be quite ready for him. But overall this is why woman is not directly affected by modernity, she does not have any true "existential crisis" or suffering or despair over modernity, she can only be affected indirectly by modernity, such as through man, her practical need to now get a job and inability to have a family for example. Even the idea of a duality in woman cannot be spoken of in the same way as man. But nevertheless this is babble speak and enjoy Jung.

Learn your history. The CIA literally fed random people LSD in consciousness/brainwashing experimentation with the help of the military. Civilians and military men. I say experimentation rather than experiments because oftentimes it was exactly as I described: random people going about their lives having their food spiked or tricked into taken it by doctors, university professors, etc. All major universities were complicit and most of their ideologies are controlled or invented by the CIA being as they, historically, have worked closely with government agencies.
