Philosophically they're on the same level but diametrically opposed to one another. Politically they're mostly in agreement.

Wasn't he? Didn't Plato simply put to paper the original thoughts of Pythagoras, Parmenides, Socrates, et. al.? Not that this wasn't an incredibly valuable enterprise, but I don't think this justifies naming Plato himself as a great philosopher. Unless we are taking philosopher to mean a "lover of knowledge" in the classical sense, rather than a producer of ideas.

Lmao no, read Plato anon. I'll give an example, the Parmenides dialogue isn't about Parmenides system, he explains it in the first part and that sets out some of the ideas in the dialogue, but then he goes on with his actual intentions; his own thoughts.

This is a good take.

Are you impersonating someone?

Hmm... For whatever reason, it seems my copy of the Parmenides doesn't include the discussion of the Forms...

Are you saying that the lengthy dialogue on the One, in the voice of Parmenides, explicating the philosophy most commonly attributed to Parmenides, is a creation of Plato?

They're both good but for different reasons.
