Visual art is a terrible medium. Nobody can relate to old paintings with anything more than a sniveling rich man's put-on affectation. Whenever somebody tells me they like art, I imagine they also love listening to NPR and filling their head with the greatest thoughts of the world and absolutely none of their own. In the book of Deuteronomy it is revealed that we are not to make unto us a graven image of anything on earth. This is a sound law because visual art inspires feelings of inadequacy and lust. If I could, I would gladly erase all museums in the world and replace them with natural parks and churches. There is no art in this world more beautiful than god's creation. Struggle and toil for the sake of beauty as long as they might, the artist will always fail to create anything but iniquity.
