This example is emblematic of a pervasive problem with Peterson, where he is truly incapable of distinguishing the difference between baseless conjecture and material evidence. I encourage you to read Maps of Meaning with an eye for what I would call his "willful" interpretations, and then to compare things he's written to things he's cited. He tends to become scatterbrained, and is sometimes very hard to get a clear answer out of. A good example of this is whenever he's asked if he believes in god.
