Most people don't think about it which is why companies supporting BLM and putting out statements is so pernicious. It's propaganda and people are influenced. Everybody "knows" the cops are racist but nobody can explain why they believe this. In the face of all this it's easy for normal people to look away if not openly support the destruction of statues, because who wants to support slave owners? They don't think about the fact that every people were slave owners at some point or they might not see the consequences of destroying and rewriting history.
