No, Christ didn't say that. In fact, Christ said that no one knows when He will return.

What you're referring to is when Christ said that there are some standing here who will not die until they see the kingdom of God come with power. And this refers to Christ's transfiguration, and it also refers to the visions John had in Revelation.

Guys, I realised God is real and now can't stop obsessing how I'm going to go to hell when I die. I feel awful and alone and think I've done all the unforgivable sins, the worst being sodomy

I would do anything at this point to be forgiven, probably even break my own limbs or fingers, man I wish there is hope for me.. I keep wondering, does your past matter as long as you're a holy person once you die?

yes, take a look at St Augustine (read his confessions if not) he did a lot of impure things and ended up being a holy man.
start by reading this https://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p2s2c2a4.htm
check contrition especially, since is the first step
perhaps a priest, a doctor of the soul, could guide you
you musnt give in to despair, be truly sorry for your sins and sin no more. No sin is unforgivable, only blasphemy to the Holy Spirit

Get the sacraments in the nearest catholic Church and go to confession. And, of course, stop sinning. You will feel better and the fear of falling from grace will make you live a holier life. Sodomy is terrible, yes, but if you never do it again you can recover

3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying:
“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man,
and He will dwell with them.
They will be His people,
and God Himself will be with them as their God.b
4‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’c
and there will be no more death
or mourning or crying or pain,
for the former things have passed away.”
5And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.” 6And He told me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life. 7The one who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.
8But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”

Amen.

Anyone else trying to learn contemplative prayer? Before I went to sleep last night I said "Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" a great many times in my head. It is very good to repeat the Jesus Prayer throughout the day, specially to avoid temptation.
But you gotta understand what you are doing. Only do if you are a truly religious person, if you really get Christ's sacrifice and understand that the demons around you exist and prey on your sinful acts.
If you are a 'spiritual but not religious' type, don't go near the ancient prayers, a fool who can't do those things properly won't get anything out of it

I want to be more religious, I was actually looking at going to an Orthodox Chruch near me but then Corona hit and everything shut down. Currently I am non denominational but I do not want to be. I am not a spiritual but not religious type, I think that spiritual things come through religion, but my goal is just to be closer to God.

As a lonely person that only sees themselves, I've been struggling with egoism. Like the milkman said, even holy or spiritual pursuits became egoistic to me in nature. There was always a goal, always some profit. Or as Nietzsche claimed, there was only the will to power. This was completely unsatisfactory to me, and horrible.
Due to some personal turmoil, a different perspective started growing withing me. A more selfless one, where I stopped caring about what I would get. It could be summed up in a way by a quote from Crowley, of all people: "pure will, unassuaged of purpose, delivered from the lust of result, is in every way perfect". Meaning that it doesn't matter what the future brings, as long as I live properly. I shouldn't live properly for some profit, but merely because it is virtuous to do so. Who cares if it will not work out in the end? A pure life is already valuable.
This doesn't make sense on some level probably, or perhaps I can't convey it with logic. It's more of a feeling. But only through this irrationality, through the belief in an ideal, I think I will be able to live a proper life.

It sounds paradoxical but it's true, but here's what I have to say. Temptations, at the beginning, are strongest when you're at your purest. You would think that's when the demons would run away from you but it's not true, when you are full of life and joy you will experience pretty much every temptation under the sun, but the fact that they're so hard to overcome means you will become holy once you do, that's the real test, it's when God leaves you alone to see if you are worthy of him even without him forcing you with something like fear or full 100% belief in Him.

Retroactively refuted by Fr. Franz Hunolt >On the other hand, at the time of the deluge, the vice of impurity had gained the upper hand: "The sons of God seeing the daughters of men, that they were fair, took to themselves wives of all which they chose (Gen. vi. 2)." Noe saw that there was no hope of repentance in such a case, and therefore he did not think it worth his while to pray. The event justified his anticipations, for we do not read of a single one being converted, in spite of the threatened punishment.
You do not save souls. Your prayers do not save souls. God does. Uniformity with his will makes these ends redundant. Only a prideful wicked person would believe it is they who saved souls. You know... that donkey Christ road into Jerusalem in on? I bet he though those cloaks, and leafy-branches were for him. Remember who really deserves credit. Salvation and creation is the work of God, not you. Taking credit for his work is pride and will send you to hell.
