Today we have a special piece of sumptuous bait for our local viewers to dine upon. As you can see, our undercover OP has started a popular "bookshelf" thread... with one sinister twist...
He's a redditor!
Will Anon take the bait? Will the funko pops and manga be enough to snare our lonely image board wandering targets?
Let's find out tonight on...

Without Funko Pops they were nothing. They'd built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked, but nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. Cities exploded -- a whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men.

I hate Funko Pops.

God, I fuckin Hate funko pops. I FUCKING HATE THEM SO MUCH.

The Hatred I feel for those stupid, beady-eyed, soulless, plastic baubles that every goddamn he-man-woman-hating nerd gets their sick little rocks off too is so fucking extreme I have to capitalize Hatred because it becomes its own feeling, separate from the usual emotion.

I Hate their stupid one size fits all body.

I Hate their ugly ass cheap paint jobs.

I Hate the empty emotionless black dots they have for eyes.

I Hate their massive heads.

I Hate the shitty nerd culture pandering.

I Hate the waste of plastic that's all gonna end up in the trash in 5 years when everyone finally gets bored of them and moves onto the next nerd thing.

Funkos are the epitome of everything I hate about capitalism: The overproduction and waste; their utter uselessness; the complete lack of any artistic value whatsoever; the fact that, despite their disgusting lack of any substance, a whole shit ton of people absolutely cream their pants over them.

I can understand the decadence of the Bourgeoisie; their utter depravity in the face of having no material or moral boundaries in their quest to find some meaning in our shitty meaningless world; but funko pops? WHY? Why do people like them? What is their function? Their value? Their art? What happiness can a tiny piece of plastic shaped exactly like millions of others with a slightly different paint job reminiscent of some stupid Marvel character do for you emotionally?

Jesus, even the weird anime figurines that weebs like to cum on aren't as disgusting as these fucking things.

I'm not inherently against an adult reading books for young people or anything. It's just all so generic. Imagine that someone created a pill that allowed you to experience emotions for 30 minutes per pill you took. You could take a sadness pill and be sad for exactly 30 minutes and then it went away. You could take a happiness pill and be happy for 30 minutes. Some of these pills are rarer than others, and even the common ones aren't really common. "Triumph" is probably the rarest. A lot of people try to make a triumph pill, and it's usually pretty terrible. For a long time it might be so hard to find real copies of a rare pill that you have to go out and put the leg work in to experience those emotions, because otherwise you probably never will. A person could go their entire life never finding a triumph pill, so they might as well try to work to experience their own real victories.

But there's a problem: after a while, a lot of the methods of hoofing it to find victory dry up. There's no more places to explore, there really aren't any glorious heroic battles you can tell stories of, and it seems like the pace of life has really slowed down. There's more and more pressure to get the triumph pills really correct. After a while, someone figures out a successful formula for a triumph pill that works pretty well, maybe not perfectly, but everyone's so starved to experience real triumph that maybe they can live with 40-50% of the real thing. Now you can manufacture pseudo-victory for people to experience, and of course they eat it up, and so we're at where we are today.

The entertainment culture is death in whatever form it appears in. It's now basically the norm, and it's "weird" not to consume its products, but YA novels are a form of that. They're not really for young adults. They are cheap forms of emotional stimulus for people who cannot readily get them in other ways. They're in the same family as penny sex novels for women in the 80s, detective novels, and basically anything written these days that's about "soldiers". They're all the same.

Pykewater is essentially rapture's online bookstore for scholars. It's actually pretty exceptional: if you email him from a .edu address and go to an ivy/near ivy-level school, you get access to these reading lists he's compiled and get to choose whatever you want--he then scans it in and sends it your way. For free.
The only caveat seems to be that the material comes with his notes. I don't know if its a copyright thing, but I don't really mind. He actually has some good insights.

Finally fixed my bookshelf so I've not just got books all over my room. It's still a bit barren, I've only got those two rows of books out of the five that there are, but fuckin I've not even been reading for a year so at least I've got an excuse. And if you can't make it out the book on the very right of the top row is Dubliners.

I don't hang out with people who even care about this stuff. For now. I can tell them about Evola and they don't care, they find him funny or slightly interesting. If people ask what I'm interested in I usually say I'm a "medievalist" "neo-classical mystic" "European comparative mythologist" and plus I usually hide the books with Aryan in the titles.
Girls only glance at the mess of books and I haven't had any long term girlfriends. People who would possibly get mad at me because of these books I would have on meeting them immediately understood that we wouldn't match. There's outward signs. I hang around with blue collar dudes who find this stuff interesting and don't get mad and usually have no knowledge of any of the books.like >>15535953 said.
They're basically edgy nihilist so I just can't enforce a hard-line worldview on them but I can critique and mock all day with them.

The blue collar (white) workers usually are pretty honest and down-to-earth.
Really though, I only have close friends in my room and I know that they don't care. Most of them are apolitical good guys.

>> No.15536122

Any guide to the cantos would be longer than the cantos itself.

I use Wikipedia for the historical references and even then it’s like 3-5 Wikipedia articles For each page. And then you have to read the context of those articles themselves.

The Cantos also doubles as being phonetically beautiful. I think Ezra wants you to enjoy the sound of the words as much as the meaning.

I actually didn't like it as much as his eros book. But it's probably because I've read so much tantra literature that I was already familiar with most of it. Evola of course as always makes it very interesting.
I would recommend sir John Woodroffe if you want some good in depth tantra books, Evola loved that guy and references him a lot.
The book is a good primer but youll need to take a few notes as you go along. For words such as tapa, satva, Maya, Shakti etc.

these threads are truly fascinating sociological things. one might say the world is burning out there--but it's really here, in threads like these, that the origins of the contemporary problem are most salient.
how so?
it seems like there is a tension here that cannot be resolved. on the one hand, people post for no other reason than to acquire optics--whether it is out of insecurity, pride, happiness, sorrow, etc., the post is there to be seen. it is public. and what is the public? in some sense,
it's an arena of action, an arena of judgment by/from/through others. and yet the poster who posts for optics is the same poster that rejects the idea that another could negatively judge them. look at the arguments here--they exist somewhere between aesthetic disagreement and meta-ad hominems, if only because they are so naturally confused from the get go.
how is it that one reveals himself, elects to be seen--but simultaneously disavowals the possibility of judgment?
the reality is not so much the artistic "quality" of these god-awful little plastic toys, but the bizarre situation to display them and then disengage real deliberation.
