Does he deserve the Nobel?
I think he does, some of his worst novels are better than the best of Transtormer, Le Clezio and clearly, Bob Dylan.

He will never because of the numerous scandals and the fact that he almost always writes about sex, and they already gave it to Coatzee. Personally, I don’t think he deserves it because his formal innovation is captured by other writers in a better way e.g., Camus.

The Bob Dylan thing was baffling to me. I understand that you can consider song lyrics literature in a way, it's kind of ambiguous, but he's a musician, the lyrics are meant to be accompanied by music. And people love Dylan's lyrics but if he had just published them as poems instead of alongside the music he would not be the icon he is.

>If you publish Shakespeare's plays without performing them then Shakespeare would not be the icon he is today.

Clearly that isn't true because Shakespeare's works are studied as literature more often than they are seen performed. Barely anybody studies Dylan's lyrics instead of listening to his songs.

Then why they gave the prize to Handke? He supported Yugoslavia genocides and so many guys did what he made, better.

That's absolutely not the critical consensus. May be because you're American and looking in from the outside but Handke has always been received highly and slated for the Nobel. That's what makes his case so controversial: he really does deserve, whereas Kundera has always polarized critics, or, worse been met with a cool reception.

Partly because it’s more convenient to listen to a Dylan album than it is to stage a entire play production. Fuck, you could listen to Dylan’s entire discography. Also, there have been a couple good scholarly books on Dylan lyrics, particularly Christopher Ricks’ “Dylan’s Vision of Sin”

lmao, nice bait, no one actually believes Slowness is better than The Prospector

Bob Dylan was a shit choice, but I am glad he was chosen because of how triggered reddit "DeLillo deserves a Nobel!!!!" cucks were.
