Once and for all , let's just figure out what's worth reading and what's not
i'll start

>> No.15485722

it's a very fun an enjoyable read but not that deep or rewarding if you're looking for that. it's still a neat experience i'd recommend if you're not just reading books to up your pseud cred

It's a good book. Fun, even.

Try If on a winter's night a traveler.

that's a good one too !
but i think the experimental part would be the narrative angle
i meant books that experiment with the medium itself
like S by jj abrams

It's an interesting take on writing as a medium, as is its intent. I really don't understand the hate it gets. It's not Lolita or Ulysses and it's not trying to be. It's an exploration of the limits of the written word, and its exploration is pretty damn thorough.

One of the few books to have truly disturbed me. Great read. For how thick the book is, a pretty quick read too.

>> No.15486950

I dont know why everyone is calling it fun. i did enjoy the gimmicks but honestly beyond the cover there is nothing worth reading in this. maybe i had high hopes but it was an embarresing cringy pretentious attempt at god knows what. that was my problem with it, it was aimless. the parts didn't mesh well to create a good whole. i wanted something actually scary or disturbing when going in. im not one to easily dissmiss stuff. this wasn't worth it.

why does everyone say this? the book never left me remotely scared [spoilers] every spooky part can be explained by johnny's schizophrenia [spoilers] not saying its a bad book i enjoyed it especially his mothers letters just not scary

I wouldn’t describe it as scary either, but I can’t think of any other books that were as unsettling.

You can save yourself 10 hours and just watch the treehouse of horror episode where homer enters the extra dimension in his house.

I think the only disturbing thing about it was how it made me think about the “feeling” of my own house
