it seems to me that half of you read the /lit/ 100 and the other half of you read nothing at all. no one on here appears to discuss literature at all. this might as well be called /lit/ - literature that none of us have read.

as someone who is incredibly well read in comparison to the average /lit/izen, as someone who has posted here since this board's inception and as someone who has read literally thousands of books, I'm going to use this thread to restore this board to its original purpose and actually talk about literature.

post a novel title here and I will rate it out of 10 to one decimal place pitchfork style and post a short review.

I've actually never read this novel. I had to study her poetry when I was in school (over a decade ago now, I'm getting old haha) and it never really connected me. like, I never understood why she chose to be depressed. I'm a pretty optimistic guy so it just didn't resonate with me (her poetry). so I never touched the bell jar. I do have a copy of it though.

I've actually never read "flowers for algernon", sorry. my younger brother said it was overrated though. I did watch the episode of its always sunny that parodies it though if that's any help.

if you're going to the library, you should definitely check out le tejoras de coronas (the weaver of crowns). it's a columbian novel, very Pynchon like, don't see it discussed on /lit/ very much.

Just finished this afternoon.

I had a good time reading this and overall it left me with a very favorable impression. Initially I’m feeling 7-8, but as the months go by and it sits with me, I think it will climb to a 9.

Unless something went way over my head, I was kind of surprised at how simple the main philosophical themes are, especially for a book that presents itself as ostensibly complex. Like, the hardest part was wading through the all the prose and technical language; the main ideas here are fairly simple. Thoughts?

I've never had a chance to read Dostoyevsky. I was supposed to do an elective module studying some of his works in college but it was cancelled because the professor supposed to be teaching it was almost killed due to a peanut allergy or something. I do plan on reading the brothers caramazarov someday though, when I get through the rest of my backlog.
