can anyone give me a historical timeline of this board? origin date, major events, historiography of discussion of works, etc.

The history of coffee dates back to the 15th century, and possibly earlier with a number of reports and legends surrounding its first use. The earliest substantiated evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree is from the early 15th century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen,[1] spreading soon to Mecca and Cairo. By the 16th century,

board founded
>board is small
>mostly pretentious college lit degree faggots flock to it
>this was before the "alt right" was a thing so vast majority of them are tryhard junior marxists
>mod/janitor is hardcore leftist/feminist and bans everything else, from obvious jokes to deliberately benign conservative literature threads
>a lot of them are unsurprisingly tripfags, the board is often used as little more than a staging point to have "cam chats" on tinychat among a circle of tripfags
>all these people are newfags/otherwise don't use 4chan much
>board naturally selects more newfags/reddit types because of this culture and the excessive moderation
>a lot more lit/english majors than history/philosophy majors

around 2013
>creep of "alt right" content increasing, still banned on sight, but clash is at the point that people are actively flouting moderation
>mod vanishes mysteriously one day (possible overdose on hormones)
>board still pretty low in population
>relatively high-quality small-board discourse for a while, shitposting aside
>also creeping more toward philosophy/history types
>butterfly, one of the old tripfags and now an aging old whore unloved by all, further humiliates herself by orbiting a tranny (Feminister) who outs himself as a tranny and then literally never posts again

2016 and after
>the Great Zoomer Invasion begins with the trump campaign and continued rise of phoneposting
>board gets more and more populous along with res of 4chan
>butterfly still here, still unwanted and unliked, still has not made a single good or non-smug sounding post
>board is too fast
>increasing slide toward twitter celeb threads and "WHERE DO I START WITH ACCELERATIONISM? IS ACCELERATIONISM A SUBSET OF DARK ACADEMIA?" larp shit as average age of the board drops to "vaping high schooler who wants to be part of something but doesn't know how to read or think"

Biased exaggerated perspective.
Forcing Ayn Rand on us actually got to be a ban-able offensive. This doesn’t make the mod a “hardcore leftist”

“Alt-right” kept coming in and bugging us for tard recs and charts. /pol/ shit gets banned as it should.
And there was no outting of feminister as anything but but lying about a boyfriend. Never showed up again, but w/e. “Orbit”? I appreciated the contributions. You image all the rest.

>eventually the novelty of a /lit/ board dies off and most of the cancerous Potterfags go away
>Nanowrimo threads every year
>writer fags pretty much dominate and ruin the board with their critique threads
>also lots of philosophy fags who get all their info from wikipedia. Daily discussions on what nihilism is and isn't.
>tripfags dominate the board, specifically Calle Borjesson with discussions on weed and tripfags being unique and special and the heart of /lit/
>Calle Borjesson leaves after he gets doxxed for threatening to shoot up his high school on Valentine's day

indeed. they give you the flexibility to make things up and the actual ontological category of the discourse community is so ill-defined that I just decided to pick this place because a. I've been posting here since 2013.

Feminister coming out was too good. Butter free's reputation never recovered.

Things I miss: Pynchon posting, dfw posting, Wittgenstein posting, Stirner spooks posting. The last two especially. Notpynchon is a classic lit moment.

The red haired booktuber who had to shut down her channel because of 4chan harassment when she was like what 15 or 16? Definitely top 5 /lit/ moment, was hilarious but also I think that was the watershed moment for the board being taken over by the alt right trumpian contingency that has completely taken over 4chan since 2016.
