As far as I'm aware pythagoras was influenced by zoroastrianism and their math was important as well but besides that until after Alexander their culture was insular but I could be wrong

Nothing written in the period, but there are books written about ancient times which are good. Freud has a work called Totem and Taboo about tribes, customs early ritual and incest.. Frazer has a famous book called The Golden Bough about primitvie concepts of magic and things like that..
