Moomins books are not mediocre. Fucking weebs prefer living in these weird weebspaces, and you can’t get into the Finnosweedish charms of the source material.
Her non-Moomin work is also wonderfully charming. It is odd how all the stories stem from her life and are mixed around. There’s a story about a boy that went off to become an artist, a story of a artist taking over a set of characters invented by an older man, a Japanese man visiting Finland. The two characters in Fair Play aren’t based on either Tove or Tuulikki but an odd mixture.

Yes, Borges is very inventive and based in the classics, but Tove is working with a limited palette to just as inventive a set of works. Not bad for a painter
