Have your libraries opened back up? Is it safe to go into them?

Oh boy, a books thread!

I want to make a manuscript. What would the best material for the pages be? Parchment? Paper? I'm okay with making my own, but obviously somethings (gold plates, certain polymers) that would be really high tech are out of my reach. We have extant historical parchment, but we also have extant historical hemp and papyrus paper.

Assume future owners of the manuscript aren't dumb enough to soak it in water or burn it or whatever. I'd also be doing that grimoire thing where there's a latch, no matter what kind of material the pages are.

It's never safe to do anything again. SARS-HIVnCOV-19 is chronic. Physical symptoms repeapper every few months and your immune system is weakened for life. Take my advice and move to Raddison QC and live off fish and bear.

My local taxes support these libraries and I'll be damned if their only use is a homeless hang out

Holy shit based

But I like paper books a lot because I'm autistic and I don't like staring at a screen 24/7

I don't think my university library is going to be accessible until the fall. It sucks because there are a few sources I could really use as I finish up my dissertation in the next few months. This whole situation is causing me to use more online sources than I would typically care for, but I'm just ready to finish this thing and move on.

what sources do you need, anon? what's your dissertation on?
