That's fucking retarded. Difficult or more complex works are always harder to enjoy at the beginning, but after some time and with enough preparation one's able to appreciate and, yes, enjoy the book.

The first time I read Infinite Jest I thought it was fucking pretentious gibberish, but once I got around page 200 I started to understand the idiosyncrasy of DFW and learned to appreciate the book for what it was. By enduring through the harsh beginning of the book I was able to enjoy the rest. If I had quitted as soon as the first couple pages I would have missed the joy I experience by reading the rest of the work.

This can be extrapolated to almost everything. The first time I played Dark Souls, for example, I found it unfairly difficult since I wasn't accustomed with difficult video games and ended up quitting after only the first boss. I wasn't until I gave the game a second try that I was able to pass through the "joyless" begining of the game and began to understand it to the point were it became one of my favorite franchises. The same happened the first time I started to listen to Prog Rock, Jazz or whatever non-normie music I listen to.

Beginnings aren't always full of joy. If anything, the most complex works are
often those that offer the most rewarding experiences. The harder the goal is to accomplish, the more joy it will produce if/when it is reached. Progress requires effort. It's ironic you can't understand something as simple as that.

yea keep pretending you actually understand anything and that reading hard books makes you sophisticated. You don't need to prove that you are able to work through complex stuff and that by doing so you attain a higher form of awareness letting you 'truly' appreciate the human condition in all its beauty. All this is meaningless and only serves to make you look like a pompous fool who prefers larping out of the compulsion to impress an imaginary friend to enjoying anything. Go and idealize suffering some more, maybe you'll eventually realize the futility of attempting to understand anyone's intention behind their art.

I read the first Game of Thrones book in a week when I was 12. That goes to say nothing. A 600 page Harry Potter book for a 11 year old is also nothing.

It's when you get to books with excerpts that English literature teachers find hard to understand, that you start to slow down.
The first half of Notes from the Underground took twice as long to read as the second half.

Nothing of what you said was coherent. You're just coping because you don't have the patience to try to understand complex works of art. For you anything that requires doing any thinking isn't worth it. You can't understand that people find joy by working through a difficult goal, be either writers, athletes or scientists. You're doomed to mediocrity and will try to bring down, like a crab in a bucket, anyone who try to better themselves in any way. If anything, you're the antithesis of what you so hard try to defend which is not only ironic but distatefully pathetic.
