>World War III is a guerrilla information war with no division between military and civilian participation

How come nobody ever talks about Mcluhan here? Many of his insights have only been more relevant as we get further into the Internet/Information age.

Where to start with McLuhan?

A friend told me that Harold Innis is the McLuhan's McLuhan

Although most people know him for The Medium Is The Massage, I would say The Gutenberg Galaxy is the most essential read.

He lays out the foundation for much of his later claims, such as "The medium is the message" in Gutenberg Galaxy. And he does an excellent job showing how the medium of communication and how it has changed over time fundamentally effects the ideas that get popular in different eras.

>By deception shall we make war with them - Talmud
It's sad, and ironic, because this war needs blood more than the other two did.

Interesting, thanks. If you like that sort of thing, Walter Ong's Orality and Literacy is incredible too. Fun read too.

I literally green texted a poignant quote to start discussion. That's how things work here, otherwise people would ignore the thread and/or call me a blog poster.

Got The Gutenberg Galaxy sitting on the bookshelf. I'll be sure to let you know what I think of it once I read it.

He used to be discussed from time to time. He's no stranger to /lit/, but not one of our biggest memes.
If you lack cultural analysis of modernity try also Christopher Lasch.
