I've was born an raised in London, Barnet and Camden, lower middle class, and I can tell you with confidence, the obsession with the lower class that you speak of is no more -at most- a disdainful intrigue; Chavs are looked at like literal niggers or not at all. The divide between the lower middle and the working class is not large enough to create any mystique nor is it small enough to allow for kinship. To us, they're just poorer and have a more annoying accent. The aggrandisement you speak of is mainly present in foreigners on 4chan, you're just speaking out of your ass. Frankly speaking, there's a larger divide between the middle class' upper and lower than there is between the lower middle and working, so it's no surprise that right-wing opinions are on the rise among the lower middle classes, but not because the middle class is suddenly looking to the ignored north for enlightenment. Your rural upbringing seems to have made you confuse the notions prevalent within millennials in most of the western world and think it cultural phenomena unique to the UK: remember how looking like a lumberjack was fashionable for coastal hipsters?
